Saintsational Match Thread - St Kilda vs Geelong
ETIHAD STADIUM ROUND 14 SUNDAY 5 JULY
We've been waiting all year for it and the time is finally here.
Now the two undisputed best teams of 2009 so far will go head to head in a battle for the ages.
Never before in VFL/AFL history have two teams met at 13-0. The hype on this game is enormous, but justifiable. For two teams that have won just nine flags between them in 111 seasons to generate this much attention is a mark of how remarkable these two teams are.
Make no mistake, a lot writes on this game. Geelong finally get to flex their considerable muscle against a worhty opponent and St Kilda finally get to play someone in great form and with virtually their best side.
You couldn't ask for a better build up for such an enormous match and even though it is esentially a glorified home and away match, you can't help but feel an atmosphere respective of a Grand Final...

I prefer playing the Cats without him. Lets live in the now and stuff what anyone says. At the end of the day the record books will show the final score. Not too many will delve into the playing lists that show who played.saintDal wrote:I would've preferred to play them with Johnson in. Would give us a better idea of where we are at against them.
Plus if we win they will say it's because he was out. If they win they will be all cocky because he wasn't playing.
Geelong supporters are entitled to be cocky given how good they've been over the last few years. Make no mistake it still won't be easy but it has been made easier with Johnson not playing.
