Brisbane is a joke
Talkin about the TV! Channel 7 as you might know has the game at midnight on Sunday!!! - and even then it's not even listed in today's Courier Mail newspaper. Instead we get the who cares Sydney v Roos game and because of their 5pm commitments .... we get a repeat of Ripping Yarns - What A Carry On and other dumb shows. Sure it's on Foxtel (and on Gold Coast) but what a wonderful showcase for the AFL in Brisbane. Doesn't get bigger than this, (Well I'll certainly make sure that I mention this dumbness on my radio shows this weekend (4BH).)

Newman realises its on Fox, just disgusted that its not on free to air.matrixcutter wrote:i just saw an ad on fox after the port v brisbane game and it was for our clash with the cats tomorrow.

Yeah St Bev is right, I got Foxtel so I'll be ok but there are a lot of AFL fans and even luke warm AFL/NRL fans that would have watched this one. And let's face it .... even the Magpies v Dons or Blues Fri night games were of great interest - BUT Bris gets no live Fri night games just late night replays. When complaining to TV stations it's an idea to mention that 'as a protest' you will now make sure to watch the nightly news on the opposition stations and not 7. That's the main TV money spinner just as the breakfast show is on radio.

they spend all this money in brisbane to push the game, especially with the GC coming in. Why would they want to put the top of the ladder contest to air. Stupid me! They tell us there is a real football culture up there and yet on the other hand they barely show any of the product.

it's like not showing the rugby union till 1 am in melbourne, you want an audience don't treat them like crap.... football australia learnt that, the NRL, ARU and AFL are still learning....
I'm suprised they didn't just delay the game to a tuesday night so that channel 7 could show it in a timeslot that they couldn't fill.....

You may have missed that we have foxtel at $12 a month. I dont see the issue. If you want to watch AFL it is cheaoer then going to the game and it doesnt rate welll enough to show live on free to air so I dont see the problem.Solar wrote:your completely rightplugger66 wrote:Surely every game is on free to air even if it means 2 to 3 clubs cannot survive. yep it doesn't rate, so why put it on ey? They don't get a crowd over 10k at the GC, why bother with a team there then. Wow imagine what would never get done because people are worried about things failing/not having an audience....

Yep thats right forget about growing the game or does it have to grow on free to air even if Brisbane isnt playing. Sorry to say this but interstate sides keep at least 3 Vic sides going in the AFL.Solar wrote:yep it doesn't rate, so why put it on ey?
