the big message from this weeks selections is that matt maguires time at the saints is over (if hes not even in the emergencies when max is injured he not even be in the reckoning).
i love goose and its no fault of his own. but for his own sanity & opportunity he should probably look for a new club. saints could get a 2nd rounder for him.
im sure plenty of clubs would love to have him.
well Steve J is not small at 189cm...but don't forget Byrnes....Geelong' third top goal scorer....and only 174cm tall.
I think Miles is half a chance....Geelong have been very reliant of late on their smalls getting the goals.
Mate, they are all chances of playing, that's why they have been selected on the extended interchange...
For a poster to suggest that one of them is "no chance" is astounding
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
yep looks like it...pretty reasonable change...we need a lead up forward that will keep harley from playing loose across the half back line and going second and third man up....
Yes, I agree we do, but why then would you bring in Gwilt.
Week after week his opponents zoned off him (or ignored him just like St Kilda's midfield ignored his leads).

Let's put the side out there that's played the majority of the season together. It will be measured against the best, and our weaknesses will be exposed, therefore adjustments can be made to it from next week leading up to the finals.
That's right, the finals are still 9 weeks to go

Predictable ins, Imo Raph or Gwilt will get the nod because they have a bit more experience & both can play down back so I would be surprised if Eddy or Miles get a gig but thats imo only
bev totally agree if we are talking about needing a backman but since max came in we have had one too many tall backman. We are crying out for a third tall forward.
It's simple really, gwilt comes in and plays forward. We need to use him early because it means milburn is forced to stop zoning off and has to take his man. This allows us to isolate our other two talls or our leading small forwards.

the more i think about it, the more i want miles in the side for this one.
never seen the kid play, but going on the chatter, he'd be the perfect man to sit all day in the back pocket with chapman or johnson or ablett or whoever else goes down there. good pace, good overhead, a natural defender.
i'm really worried that all three of those smalls will end up in the forward line at one point, and i just don't think our backline as it stands can match up on them. add in miles and i reckon we're a lot closer.

If any of those three get a run on there is little stopping them anyway. I think the Saints need to do what they have been doing all year - restrict inside-50s - and that comes down to contested ball, and forward pressure... both greatly improved this year, and no coincidence. Remember last year's Qualifying Final? The Cats smashed them for contested ball.
Firstly - Maguire is not there for balance- he is too slow for a 3rd lead up forward defensively and with Geelong's backline lacking size there is no match up for him.
Gwilt could come in and make Harley accountable
R Clarke could do the same type role after a couple good weeks in 2's
Miles the dark horse. May well lay as i think Geelong will go really small in the forward half at times which could cause a match up problem for us.
If Miles comes in a smokeymight be Blake to half forward with Dawson to Hawkins, Fisher to Mooney and Gilbert to SJ . Baker to Byrnes and Ray to Chapman or Varcoe.
