You are right our first 13 weeks have been average.Leo.J wrote:This week is the first for quite some time where we are the Hunter.
And IMO we play better when we hunt.

I agree we play more exciting footy when we hunt the opposition down, cause turnovers and counter attack. I don't think Leo.J said we were no good when we're the hunted.

Re: The Hunter or the Hunted
I would have thought he was saying we play better when we are not favourite and in 13 weeks it has made no difference either way. Only my opinion of course.kp83 wrote:Geez you're harsh.plugger66 wrote:You are right our first 13 weeks have been average.Leo.J wrote:This week is the first for quite some time where we are the Hunter.

As we've seen over the past few weeks other weaker sides play a more defensive game against us and generaly play above themselves. As our game style has a focus on defensive pressure and tackling our game is better suited when our opponent is willing to attack more openly.
When you are just a favourite it doesn't necesariy mean that a side is going to play differently against you, it more of a mental thing.

There's little doubt we play better when hunting an opponent.
I really liken it to the dog chasing the cat.
All fired up at first, huffing and puffing, stomping his feet, and if the cat runs - it's game on. He'll run it down and break it's neck with glee.
However if the cat just sits there, the dog doesn't quite know what to do. And in some cases will just walk away to find a better, more interesting challenge.
Our guys seem to revel in a fight these days. We seem to thrive when we have something to chase down.

How far down the rabbit hole do you really want to go?
