We now have 32,517 members according to the office sign - be great if we can crack 33,000 or more.

"Nick Riewoldt:"
I want to take this chance to send a big congratulations to each and every one of you! Last week we broke our all-time record membership number set in 2004. As of today, there are 32,517 members which is a great effort from the St Kilda faithful! While this is great news, we need to keep pushing this upward toward 40,000 in the coming years, so try to get all of your friends and family on board! You still have until June 30 to sign up more members or upgrade to Social Club for 2009.
Go Saints!

It would be nice if they couldget Nick to write something himself. This issuing a very transparent statement supposedly by Nick is pretty annoying.

I have asked and was told that Nick does in fact write them;
dissapointing really that people don't believe,

It's a bit like when the players are in the Victory room,

lots of people say" we want to hear and talk to the players" but when they are given the opportunity to listen to them in apublic forum they can't be heard because 'supporters' talk over them,

people ask of them to give their thoughts and time But don't give them the same respect or common decency of being attentive.... :?

so you can wonder why they bother, or how disheartening it must be when they do give of themselves-

hawks are flying in the membership department- I wonder what the Cats' membership department is doing,

whilst they have won a flag and all those games without losing one- their membership is Just under 37,000.
The Geelong Cats have broken its membership record for the fourth time in the past five years, with 36,934 supporters on board as members in 2009.

The previous record was set last year with 36,850 members
http://www.geelongcats.com.au/geelongne ... fault.aspx

which again puts into query the Hawks figures in some respects.

So somebody from the club appeased your question and now it's true?

Sorry to be blunt, but Nick doesn't write them. Believe what you like. He might give them the "ok" because they have his name on it, but he doesn't write it.

End of discussion.

A mate of mine signed up this morning and there are only 23 Social Club memberships left.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

So we have probably netted a further $200k-$300k just on Social Club memberships this year?

That figure wouldn't include any extra memberships sold together with Social Club memebrships - just upgrades.

2500 SC memberships at $125 is $312,500 alone.

Obviously they won't all be adult memberships but as you say that doesn't include people buying the extra memberships so it's a great result (in the last few weeks).

You'd imagine we'd sell quite a few memberships at the game tomorrow as well, although not many of them will be SC memberships if what Selhurst Saint has said is true.

just 200 off the 33,000 whilst Social club is full you can still put your name on the waiting list andbe first for tickets not taken up later- or to get on any not renewed next year.

tally 32,803 -

Great effort no matter what....

I would love to see the break down of new members and members that have not chosen to rejoin this year.

You think?

I reckon it quite a disappointing figure really.

We're 13-0 and playing some unbelievable footy. For a team with our supporter base we should at least be exceeding 35,000.

We're only a couple of thousand in front of the likes of Melbourne and North Melbourne.

Without wanting to pre-empt what might happen later in the year, I do expect (or at least hope) next year to be much higher though. IIRC our membership figure went from 16,000 in 1997 to 23,000 in 1998.

Like someone else mentioned, I would like to see the breakdown on how many are new members and how effective the marketing is? The only thing I find a little poor, is the lack of radio and/or TV advertising?

Congratulations to the membership Department

THank YOU to the TEAM for providing the impetus for many

GREAT WORK by those Saints- MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS- who poked and proded friends and relatives and strangers with an interest.

yes it could be better- yes it something to build on
and we didnt' have to declare almost insolvency like a couple of other teams

BUT it is the best ever for Saints and the Increase in social club alone will HELP the club to be able to do more to attract more..........

PS:all totals for record subject to AFL auditing--it would appear from previous years- the club have listed a figure which then often appears differantly on any AFL list.
