Geelong game tickets

Post: # 765606Post matt_of_moorabbin »

Hey everyone,

I convinced a mate to finally become a member at the start of the year which of course has turned out well for him, but I failed to explain to him about fully ticketed matches so he messages me yesterday with excitement for next weeks game, yet didn't know he had to buy a ticket on top of his membership to get in. By his own admission though he should have been reading the emails from the club....

Anyhow, long story short, if anyone knows of someone who can't end up going, he'd love a ticket.

Cheers

I guess ask him which would he rather, us not winning and easily getting in, or winning and making it almost difficult to get a seat.

All the same, not switching this game to a vacant MCG has cost us dearly in dollars and big ground game time.

I think you will find that the AFL, the MCC & Geelong would have benifited greatly if the game had been shifted to the G.

I'd be happy to listen to/read EXACTLY HOW St Kilda was going to make extra out of the shift !!

Sunday's forecast says rain and 13 degrees. If this is true to form, I would expect just 50,000 at the MCG and we'd have made a loss!

I dont see that as a problem though as we probably would have sold over 80,000 already so if they dont turn up iyt doesnt matter.

Didn't you read the opening post?

St Kilda fans can't get into a H&A game in Melbourne. That should never happen.

Finals? Sure. But H&A is our chance to get the rank and file to come along.

As home club, we'd have made an absolute truckload out of moving this game to the MCG.

NO game has EVER been moved for crowd purposes in the past.

There would have been compensation to pay Etihad Stadium....

compensation to pay owners of the corporate boxes at Etihad Stadium

relocating and providing new sponsorship banners for the MCG Grand Stands - estimated to be around $200,000

compensation for reserved seat holders at Etihad Stadium

compensation for the home side at the MCG for a switch to Etihad Stadium

the list just goes on and on.

Far too much money to pay out for the AFL and they would have deemed it both too hard to work out and the fact that the AFL would more than likely lose on the switch

The bottom line is the AFL's lack of foresight when compiling the fixtures at the start of the season.

It's last years 2nd side V last years 4th .....

Just when have the AFL ever been proactive???

I *may* have one spare CONCESSION ticket (will know by friday). Its a reserved seat but obviously i dont expect a concession ticket holder to be sitting by themselves, so therefore its pretty much a standing room ticket.

PM me if you are interested
