I meant to advise that winning in Round 5 this year against Port at Football Park was particularly significant as our All-time % win rate (ie our cumulative win rate) hit an all time high of 38.58%

This is calculated by taking our total wins (818) plus half our draws (22) and dividing by our total games (2149) to that point.

Previously we reached a rate of 38.56% in R18 1976.
This was the dying days of the Jeans era.
After that we slipped into the bad-lands of the 80s.

Things started to turn around in the 90s but it has taken till now to get back to that 1976 high.

Of course another 7 wins since then has lifted the win rate to 38.78% as at R12.

Here is a graph to illustrate what I mean.

The blue curve is the cumulative wins % which is what I am talking about.
The purple is the season by season rate.

It only plots the win rate at the end of each season, so the 1976 figure of 38.46% is just below the R18 1976 high of 38.56% (we lost the last 4 games of the season).

As mentioned we are now travelling in a "blue-sky" region, pushing the % up each week with each win.

Current rate is 38.78%.
To get it to 40% we would need to win our next 44 games !

And to get it to 50% ?
That will take 484 consecutive wins from now.
Our 20th century failures will haunt us for some time !

Assuming 25 games per year (3 finals) that would be over 19 seasons.
More than Robert Harvey's career span without losing a single game.

Cool graph Enrico

You may need to extend that top portion of the graph if we keep winning, though.

Here's hoping. If we play 25 matches this season, 80% would require 20 wins - sounds very reasonable, even comfortably achievable...

GO SAINTS

NICK RIEWOLDT - 444 GOALS FROM 200 MATCHES
STEPHEN MILNE - 440 GOALS FROM 216 MATCHES

Umm, ... You can't actually go any higher than 100%!

Round 13 - Richmond hold St Kilda goalless for a quarter for the first time this year. Saints repay Richmond by holding them to their lowest score since round 18, 1998 against Hawthorn (34 - 70). Nice work Sainters.

And obviously that is now 11 straight against The Tiggers - a club record.

We are quietly closing in on another record.
Today was our 15th straight win at Docklands.
That is only one behind our record of 16 consecutive wins at Docklands in 2003-04.

Can anyone work out if 74 unanswered points is a record?

(Richmond was scoreless while we went from 3 to 77.)

Actually it's 76 if you count the Saints' two behinds at the end of the first quarter. Could be some kind of record.

The Doggies set a pretty scary precedent in round 10 with 13 unanswered goals against the Swans. It wasn't completely unanswered though with two behinds after the 4th and 10th goals in that run respectively.

funny story I read on that stretch without scoring- one of the reporters listed what you can do- or which movies you could watch whilst waiting for the tigers to score.

Yeah - Michael Gleeson in The Age. I liked even better his comparison with Lindsay Lohan's jail term and Richmond's scoring absence! Hilarious.

He's not the only one with the wisecracks - in the Hun they wrote, "No matter how enthusiastic the coach, or how encouraging, or how new, he can't paint Monets with crayons." :P
