As I mentioned I'm not sponsoring a player or players to get anything out of it. I'm just wanted for all people to have an even chance.saintsRrising wrote:1/ You had the same chance as everyone else of getting a number that equates toa player that might kick a goal.Launcestonsaint wrote:
At the first bounce only 36 numbers will be in the running so a lot of sponsors know that they have no hope of getting 1st prize.
I sponsored the players to help the club so I don't really care if I win anything or not but to rule people out this early seems strange.
It was luck of the draw. Every draw has winners and losers....you obviously deem yourself as one of the losers of this first round.
Those that got 44 or 12 in the draw for StKilda rae probably delighted.
2/ Personally I do not rate the prize that is determined by the goal as the most valaubele...but some might.
Finally if I had used a hat there would be 96 tickets that miss out.
In this process.....there will still be 96 tickets that miss out.
All have had EXACTLY an equal chance of winning...both processes are exactly equal.
One process would have involved sat 5 people at Livewire watching tickets pulled from a hat..with most missing out from observing.
This process IMO involves more people.,,,,,and I might be completely wrong...but involves more "fun".
You obviously feel aggrieved believing wrongly that you have "missed" out...when in fact your number has already been drawn out of a "virtual' hat. You have actually already participated in the process that you have asked for...but are not happy because you are not one of the group you deem to be "winners".
That you did not get the result that you may have wished for is due to the luck of the draw.
At the bounce of the first ball there are 36 numbers in with a chance. If there was a raffle drawer, everyone would have an even chance.
I'm just waiting for the complaints. Hopefully only from financial members.

Are there two Launcestonsaints?
Launcestonsaint . .***.. 47 . .***.. 54
Is this not you?
You wish is granted. I am not sure how many times I have stated and restated that all shares have had exactly the same equal chance.Launcestonsaint wrote: I'm just wanted for all people to have an even chance.
There has been a preliminary draw which has sorted one aspect of the draw with respect one of the four prizes.
The other 3 prizes are effectively all "straight " raffles.
The memorabilia is effectively a "sweep" where each person has a ticket in the sweep where it is true that some tickets are not going to win BUT where every shareholder had equal chance of getting a number.
But that is the nature of sweeps where most tickets are not likely to win.
ONCE AGAIN there has been a preliminary random draw which has assigned 100 numbers and everyone has had an equal chance.Launcestonsaint wrote: At the bounce of the first ball there are 36 numbers in with a chance. If there was a raffle drawer, everyone would have an even chance.
Somewhere sometime in a raffle a number gets drawn!!!!!
In this case all 100 shares "won" a ticket.
As many shareholders actually have multiple share many would have a number of a ticket that would equate to a player who will play.
The two numbers that you have "won" in 47 and 54...were not so lucky. But draws are random and luck plays a part does it not?
Out of interest why would you get a complaint..and secondly how and why would you be responsible for such a complaint?Launcestonsaint wrote: I'm just waiting for the complaints. Hopefully only from financial members.
As far as I am aware Mr Magic is the organiser of the SS Sponsorship, whereas you are one of the Mods who moderate the site.
I am not aware of you having any responsibility for the Sponsorship.

The answer is yes. (note I originally thought that you were asking if the memorabilia was a framed jumper of the player).

Don't know who came up with it, but it was a greay idea!
I thought it was a good way to do it as the 4 winners are clearly going to be determined by chance and so is truly impartial.
I also thought that adding in a Saints football theme would be appropriate and add a sense of fun appropriate to a St Kilda Football Team Forum.
I mean this way it is truly our team that is going to pick the winners.

Launcestonsaint, you seem pretty fixated on Prize 1 rather that the whole draw as a totatility.
However pehaps please consider that the nature of the determination of the 4 prizes means that all tickets from 1 to 100 has a chance of winning a prize and so all tickets are live for the Tigers game.
And remember that the first draw ensures that all ticket numbers were randomly assigned and so hence all shareholders had a 100% equal chance of winning.
Without the first goal kicked Ticket holders of low numbers may have considered that their ticket could not win anything.
The other thing is that with the Team that kicks the first goal determining the Ticket order..of 1 to 100, or 100 to 1 that all tickets are essentially (except for prize 1 where some numbers will not be) live for all prizes when the ball is first bounced.

Yeah that is me as well a few other numbers.
My decision to sponsor a player had nothing at any stage to do with getting back something. I didn't demand to be in this competition.
When I made the decisions to donate $150 to this sites sponsorship it had nothing to do with winning anything.
I pay my membership directly to our club. I could get a local membership which is cheaper.
As previously stated, my concern is that some, who may not have visited this site in the last couple of days, could have problems with this system & make complaints.

I did edit my original post and quoted your post that's all.
Anyway, you have answered the question, I just think what you have done with this makes it all the more enjoyable, I really like the idea.
I first posted about this because posters seemed to be so fixated on the player that kicks the first goal, thinking that it was 1st prize....
It is in fact prize number 1 and that is a signed memorabilia...
Anyway, I am glad that is sorted out.

I guess that it depends on what their complaint is.Launcestonsaint wrote:

If it is about the forum and breeches of the forum rules then the Mods would be a good start.
If it is about a another poster then I would always recommend that that poster first address the poster they are aggrieved and indicate why.
If it is about the raffle then here would be a good start...if it is about the Sponosrship then Mr Magic would bea good start.
If you have had a complaint about the raffle then I suggest you state what they are so that the issues can be addressed.
To date you have only raised that you think it is unfair, which is not true as every share has had exactly the same chance of winning and so is entirely fair.

Personally I would like to thank saintsRrising for organising this (not having a go at anyone who is unhappy). To run something like this you are always going to have unhappy campers but good work sRr. I don't envy anyone trying to run any comp on this forum with so many different views and ideas. Go Tom Lynch for first Goal!!!

im not in this one as i was in the last one (and also wasnt about online when this one was organized).
i think its great that the organizers get all this ready and put time and effort into this......u know who u are.
but,
seriously when it comes to money people dont want f****** about.
eveyones names written on paper, they get placed in a hat, someone neutral draws them out, and someone videos the whole thing on their phone and youtubes it...
dont take that as a knock to all the work the organizers have done....im actually thinking along the same lines as Launcestonsaint and can see their point.
good luck to all.
oh and roo will kick the first and we'll win by 46

Whereas if I was drawing a raffle...who knows I might have a fake ticket up my sleeve
Or with the YouTube Video...I could have re-shot it and the drawn again and again till the "right" ticket came out...and just posted the "final' one.

Just brilliant, and well thought out
