Kosi?
I couldn't watch the game last night, unfortunately.
Was wondering what happened with the big bloke. Only one goal and a couple of marks. He is so crucial to our chances at the pointy end of the season, IMO, Did he just have a stinker of a game? Who played on him?

Not sure? He took a big hit to the mid section in the first half, I am not sure if that impacted on his game? I'd say it's probably more a case of Carlton trying to shut him down after his efforts last week, leaving Roo with an opportuntity to make more of an impact. We should be the envy of all, that we have two tall forwards options.

kosi looks good when he has a run at a pack or on the lead. but his one-on-one body work in a contest isn't the best and needs some work.bobmurray wrote:I think Jamison towelled Kosi, especially one on one...
Kosi won't get beaten like that every game....
he doesn't appear to have the knack of giving his opponent a timely nudge out to maintain his position.

It was in the 1st Quarter and it was a bit lower than the mid section. Yes it was a big hit and if he intends to have a hit of squash during the break there will be no shortage of black (squash) balls on the court !!ohwhenthesaints! wrote:Not sure? I honestly would say that was a stinker.
He was soundly beaten. Still tried and worked hard.
Failed to make the distance from a set shot 52m out. That is his bread and butter.

Kosi is poor at body on body work ....which is one reason why he also struggles asa ruckman.
He is elite, and probably the best in the AFL, at the "pack" mark.
That is when he marks on the move...
But when he tries to just stand his ground one on one and mark he is poor.
Last night aagainst the Blues Kosi lapsed largely back into this "stationary" role.
Kosi needs to play further out from goals...and to have his team-mates kick the ball to him so that he is not wrestlin one on one.

we seemed to miss having someone at their feet when the defenders forced Nick and Justin to brng it to ground rather than mark-
I know the numbers were elsewhere but just felt we needed to have someone done there when this began happening.
and that hit bought definite tears to eyes-- was very solid - he did check several times........

well that may explain Fisher.....cause he was quietish....HXT wrote:Kosi had a flu and collaped after the game against North.
Sam Fisher who has also not been as prominent has had a problem with a toe needing injections
Kosi as others have suggested I reckon needs a run at the pack - his body work is often a free (against) or beaten. For such a big bloke they need to focus here IMO cause he wont get to run at every pack each game.

Though he was nigh on invisible.
Didn't think it was an issue of body work, thought it was an issue of not being utilised as a target, presenting, and not dealing with it well when Fisher and then Dawson were thrown forward.
Carlton engineered it's loose man in defense well. It curbed Reiwoldt in the 2nd half, it gave Bower the freedom to run (which he did, very impressively), and it cut Kosi out of the game completely.
That's the life of a full forward these days. Sometimes you'll rip a game apart as per last week, sometimes you're not even a target.
