That doesnt mean he gets odd because West didnt go. That was plainly wrong. If it was off the ball he will go.Mr Magic wrote:The commentators (and I use the term advisedly) on Fox Sports kept saying there was nothing wrong done by King other than it was well off the play.st.byron wrote:Yeh it was inconclusive on the replay. It didn't look as though there was a swing of an arm or a fist. Was contact from Kingy's body, from his arm /hand or did they trip over each other?TriColourDisciple wrote:I found it hard to pick up on the telly to.
However, from what I could see, I think he might be Okay.
* Did you hear the jeers every time Kingy went near the ball after that?
Given that the MRP decided last year West on X that there is nothing wrong with taking out/blocking/shepherding a player well off the play, then he shouldn't have a case to answer.
Did Power run at King or did King run into Power?

WE don't have to prove anything - it's up to others to prove he did something wrong. If there is noe evidence of anything untoward then there is no case. Whether or not someone is knocked out means nothing, what counts is evidence and proof of wrong-doing.

The replay is only a long shot, but he seems to have his elbow down.
Maybe for insurance he should change his name to Barry Hall?

It was against Demetriou's precious Kangaroos, so will be more than 7 weeks.
Innocuous contact (0 points), Demetriou upset (25 points) = 25 activation points = 10 weeks.

behind the play tactics
Saw plenty of scragging holding tactics by the Roos today that was let go by the umpires. Another head high hit on Ball, Dal and Montagna held off the ball in the first quater, Kosi shepherded out from marking contests. Why should King be worried? Probably 2 weeks.

He will get at least a week, unless he has carryover points (I think he got a reprimand earlier this year).
It was miles off the ball and the Brion he cleaned up could not reasonably expect to be cleaned up. Was intentional, but initial contact was not high.
I noticed that King had an egg on the side of his head after the game. Could have been a head clash.
He will still go.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
things they need to focus on if it does go up and we fight it (if he gets more then a week IMO)
- kings size vs power. Big ruckman's body contact will always hurt a thin outside receiver
- king seemed to only see him at the last second
- power was looking the other way as he ran into king
at worst we will see him back for the tigers game IMO

Kingy Incident
Im sorry but that kind of action is just undisciplined and I would expect better from Kingie. We cannot afford for our players to be suspended...Gardiner you should know better as well. Go ahead have a go at me but i think they should be more in control.

Do you have any idea. As I said previously what should the AFL do to make the best competition even better.ace wrote:Whatever he does he should not tell the truth.Pwoit wrote:Theres no video evidence so naturallly will get 7 weeks.

This is St.Kilda & the player involved didnt take any further part in the contest. Im not the match reveiw panel but dont be too surpised by the outcome .Im not saying that I think he deserves 4 weeks but you can never under estimate the "all mighty"kosifantutti23 wrote:It was a bump to a player who could not reasonably expect contact. One week. Any thoughts of 4 are ridiculous.
Points in favour:
Contact was not that hard, just the landing
West v. Clarke is favourable precendant
Footage shows exactly what happened
Was a rough and tumble game
Points against:
Power suffered concussion
Power caught offguard
Ruckman vs. smaller bloke, not a good look
Even Hall's lawyers would struggle to call that 'in play'
Did I miss any? Can't remember where King's eyes were
And all the North fans calling King names should look at how their big brave blokes were trying to rough up Montagna all game.

You have got to be kidding? 4 weeks for a legit bump? If he gets 4 for that then the AFL really do have it in for us and it is not just a paranoid delusion by St Kilda Supporters!TassieJones wrote:only problem with it was it was off the ball, not high at all from what I can see.
I'd give him 1 week, but I reckon he'll cop 3
The contact did not cause him the concussion, his head hitting the ground did. Mind you, it must be a problem with Petrie's peripheral vision. Wasn't that the reason that Giansiracusa got away with what he did to Kosi that had Kosi out of the game for WEEKS!!!
To be honest, I would be more uncomfortable and concerned if I was Raph (which I believe is OK, but will depend on the mood of the tribunal) than I would be if I was Kingy!

This is the problem with the whole system. It's a guess as to what's "acceptable" or not. He could get anything from nothing, to weeks. It's like a lottery.
I'm not that fussed if he goes though, as Gardi has clearly been better this year and I reckon Big Mac has had almost as much impact in his two games (as Kingy does). King hardly touches it around the ground. Big Mac looks good.

It is because the AFL does not want to be fair and just.Legendary wrote:There is no system of precedent in the AFL.
Specifically, they are NOT ALLOWED to look at previous decisions. Nor can these be used as evidence.
I don't understand why they just don't introduce a system of precedent into the AFL tribunal.
It's kept us going in civil society for thousands of years.
The AFL wants to manipulate the results by advantaging one team over another.
They achieve that by changing the rules from week to week - have you noticed the drop off in frees for St Kilda from good tackles - and by removing players through suspensions.
AFL is an abbreviation for corruption.

this is the way I see it ..
Players run to cover loose opposition players or fill empty spaces even when the ball is 50 metres or more away, which is just part of what should always be considered general play .. and the ball was only 20 metres away in this instance.
1. Kings and Powers intentions were to do either of the above things, i.e. engage in normal general play and not to target each other.
2. Being fully absorbed in what they each were doing they happened to cross each others paths and surprised each other - King saw him in the last fraction of a second and fended him off in a normal, expected reflex action to prevent a body clash, with absolutely no intention.
3. It should be dismissed... but will it be ?
