Lots of players completely off their game....

Post: # 744117Post BigMart »

Goddard
Dal Santo
Blake
Milne
Gwilt
Riewoldt
Schnieder

All have made terrible decisions and are really off their games.....in the first half.....

Missed tackles, turn-overs, fumbles and lack of awareness....

We are in front easily through the efforts of

Jones, Mini, Dawson, Gilbert, Fisher.....and a few other lesser lights

and I love Luke Ball......but he is possibly the worst kick in the AFL.......

We have been WOEFUL!

and three players need a spell......you guess the ones...(hint - they make crucial errors)

Add to that

Baker

Not sure what the issue is.......but the players seem to be completely out of synch....

The lions efficiency when winning possesion

Black
Drummond
Power
Adcock

Has been the difference......

If I had to predict a winner at this stage.......I would think we would be in trouble

When is Dempster ready to return? Baker didn't do much (from the TV anyway).

Dal and Milney were down but lifted when they needed to in the last qtr and thats what got us over the line today.

Agree. I thought we missed gram's run through the middle and I thought maybe raph should have been used in that role rather than as a defender.

Poor conversion cost us, but having said that, the lions kicked better than you'd expect.

A good gutsy win in the end, but a shame we had to be headed to produce our best.

Gardiner probably more so. That was absolute domination in the ruck. Was great to watch.

St Flu

Can anyone confirm that the flu went through the Saints during the week? Heard someone saying that was the word in the Social club before the game?

Can definitely confirm that Riewoldt was quite crook this week.

On Ch7 they made comment on Roo having a virus and being away from the club during the week. He did look spent at times not his usual self with his defence in the forward line but he was not on his Pat malone there.

I imagine the OP means Gwilt, Blake and Geary?

If so, then I concur.

"Poor conversion cost us, "

Pressure often causes this

In that case what a champ he is, because without him we would have lost today.

The only good thing about today was that for the first time this season we found ourselves in a pressure situation half way through the last quarter.

and we responded magnificently !

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

I thought Schneider played really well today. 24 possessions, 4 tackles, mainly used the ball really well, one of his better games for mine...

The Lions are a great team.... but we won.... end of story.
Mate, their 2 loose defenders didn't help us either. Fair go.

We played a team that was 5-3 and lost 2 of those for less than 3 goals.

Have always said this year we will not drop players from a winning side but that is when we play well as a winning side. After today the players in trouble are Jimmy and Raph.

meh. We gave Brisbane a sniff. You cannot afford to do that in this comp. It is far too even.

Kicked ourselves into trouble in the first half. Quite seriously this could..COULD have been a blowout. What was it? Two goals, nine behinds in the second?

Increase that to say Five goals in the second and we would have been a lot further out.

Bad kicking is bad football. Plain and simple. We still looked flat. Our pressure is down and it is a concern. We still got the points, but it is a concern.

The response in the last was good to see. Lifted.

Joey is most definately an elite mid now.
Schnieder's work was awesome.
Gardy...Absolutely dominant. Such a good story this guy. He is really giving us some great first use.

There were positives, but a few more negatives to be honest.

Gotta be careful that we dont let the wins paper over the cracks somewhat.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
