St Kilda vs Geelong - MCG or Docklands.....your call.....
OK, the game "everyone" is talking about.....the game that 10,000+ neutrals desperately want to go to.
The game that will get 70 to 80,000 at the MCG IF the weather is OK.
So what is your choice?
For me, I will handle a swap to the MCG only IF I get a decent reserved seat to replace the one (or should I say two!) seats I have at Docklands.
Unfortunately, due to the MCC and AFL members taking up most of the good seats on the wing, I can't see adequate compensation as far as seats are concerned.
Perhaps the club could think outside the square, and offer some crappy reserved seat section (ala the Melbourne game) for the Geelong game (at the MCG) for reserved seat members, and as a sweetner, allow reserved seat members only (not other members), entry to an extra away game (maybe the North away game in Round 11 - the Carlton and Essendon away games aren't really an option due to high demand).
IF that was the case, I'd buy into the desicion as our club (weather and form permitting!), stands to make (I'd estimate) at least an extra $100,000.
The cost of allowing reserved seat members free entry into the North game could be: approx 6,000 reserved seat members (guess) times $15 entry (mix kids/concession/adult) = $90,000.
So based on my guesstimates, we'd need to make an extra $200,000 clear to make the extra $100,000 roughly!!!
Thoughts???

Especially if we get a chant going and the whole stanreverberates with support!

Irrelevant arguments pro/con in this case IMO - but I see your points and they are valid - it really comes down to the $$$ - and the G will win out - unless of course that grubby prick Collo decides to "bribe" us into staying put by magically offering us a decent deal for that game!Thinline wrote:Am torn...
We'll need some G time you'd think, but a choc-a-bloc Dome is an awesome experience...
Not sure how I feel about it going to the G. Not only do we have reserved seats, we also pay for the parking tickets up front at the beginning of the year (at $25).
Monetary considerations aside, if it benefits our team to play there that at the end of the day, that is all that counts. Considering we only have 1 game at the MCG (prior to the finals), a extra run on the G might be a good idea. However, if it is only a monetary issue for the club and if it may impact on our performance or if it gives the team a disadvantage, keep it at Etihad.

Absolute no brainer here. Have you ever heard of anyone winning the flag at Docklands??
We need exposure to the ground where the main prize is won in all weather conditions. Our main opposition whoever they are (probably Geelong and still Hawthorn) both play more games there than us and 1 game against Melbourne in round 22 is simply not enough.
I love the Dome and the feel of the place when its packed and the crowd is roaring but I want to hear the G when a near capacity crowd are behind the Saints as we power away to a glorious win over the Cats.
Maybe we should start a move to get the Hawks game in round 19 transferred to the G also instead of being in Tassie.
