What absolute bulls*** if true.

And for those asking 'what is the fuss' the fuss is about being pushed around to the point where we are not allowed to wear our TRADITIONAL jumper for a home game......Correct me if im wrong but thats what we actually barrack for.....Our jumper.

Essendon's clash jumper clashes with our Traditional jumper......You would swear the AFL was being run by monkeys.

Couldnt care less seeing this clash strip is a million X 1000 better than the sad joke it replaced. 4 pts, 4 pts, thats all I need.

First off, I've only scanned some of these posts, so if this has already been answered then I apologise.
Have we been directed by the AFL to wear our clash srip, or have the Saints chosen to do so for themselves?
If its a directive it sucks. If its our own choice, then fair enough it doesn't worry me.

I barrack for the club. I don't really care what we wear. I'm just a typical gen-Yer with no respect for tradition though.

Does that mean you don't barrack for the club when they wore the white apron last year?

I'm fairly sure I'd barrack for the club no matter what they happen to wear.

I am generation old but still with you. Barrack for the club and colours but dont care how they are set out. If we had won 1997 would anyone had cared that we didnt wear our normal jumper that has changed probably 5 times anyway.

pretty simple. The afl has complete control over this and informs the clubs each week. not pleasing, but simple

Anyone watching Hawthorn Freo, Hawks wearing there alternative strip makes it hard to differentiate from a distance. No clash if they wore there normal gear though.

I dont get it.

Maybe this year?

When I questioned the board on the whole clash jumper issue at the AGM as to the requirements if any and AFL directives, I did not get a direct answer from Westaway and when I then used Collingwood and Essendon as examples, inferring why do we not have the balls if it's good enough for those two clubs, I was roundly howled at by a flock of SHEEP, GO FIGURE!

This is a FAIR DINKUM disgrace if this is true??????????, me thinks someone's trying to get a rise, because if true then FF can expect a shytestorm on this and I can personally guarantee it!

If this is true, it's bloody ridiculous that the AFL signed off on Essendon's clash strip if it clashes with our home jumper
I would have thought that OUR club administration would have been able to make sure this didn't happen.
It's our home game, do our administrators bow to the AFL?
I don't really care what we wear as long as we win but we should stop the AFL changing the rules to suit their favourite clubs.

Clash strips are used for a jumper 'clash', ie - it is difficult for spectators to tell the teams apart, therefore wearing a more identifiable strip is to our (the spectators) advantage. If I can watch and follow the game more clearly because of a 'clash' strip, then great. No problems.

It's got nothing to do with getting walked all over or standing up for ourselves, it's just common sense.
Common sense would be for the away team to wear a 'clash' jumper.
It would be common sense for ALL clubs to have an alternate strip for any potential clashes so that in every case they AWAY team wear their clash jumper.
It should be the right of the home team to wear their home jumper.

A disgrace of the highest order.

If the AFL has directed it then they are living in a warped universe and we have no backbone.

If it's us giving in to the almighty dollar then we have set a dangerous precedent. What happens if we play Essendon in a Grand Final????? They will claim this as setting the rule.

If true our cheer squad should resond the way the Kangaroos did,
with an "Up yours AFL" banner.

eg

Why the "Away" strip.
When it's our home game ?

So corrupt AFL
please explain !

Dont really get the 'its not a problem' or 'still 4 points' arguments. Sure it is that, but so much more. Have to WHY other clubs are getting this, and WHY not us? What gives them the right and not us.

Its a matter of principle.

We shouldn't be walked over. Fight for this otherwise in the future the AFL will decide like this "Oh Its St.Kilda, it's ok. They won't make a fuss" about more important issues.

Firstly we have no proof this is happeneing. Secondly we dont know if our club thought about this and decided it would be a good idea as we can sell more of these jumpers and make money. Thirdly if it is happeneing why do people say Essendon are a favourite club. Where is the proof. And why are the AFL corrupt because a home side wears an away strip. I think maybe you should look up the word corrupt.

No one seems to know or care that is the biggest game of the year in 1997 we wore our other strip.

If I recall, the 'other' strip in 1997 was our home strip. The traditional strip was used during the year in away matches.

The reason we wore it in the Grand Final is that we won the toss to wear black shorts.

If we need to wear white shorts with our away jumper then so be it. This debate is for people stuck in the past.
It's got nothing to with being stuck in the past, it's a matter of respect.

Sometimes you have to stick up for yourself. If you don't you get walked over. It's our home game. They are coming to play us. They should have an adequate clash jumper.

Spot on Selhurst, this is very annoying, they should be showing us respect, like eddiewood should have shown the roos some respect.
The home team should never wear away jumpers for any reason

Ahh correct me if I'm wrong but in 1997 that WAS our home strip?

We won the toss and got to wear it as I recall....Adelaide then got choice of rooms

There are 44 blokes on the field and there is one thing that separates them. Their jumpers.

For those who don't seem to care....They obviously just like opposing traditional values....Or they enjoy getting pissed on by bigger, stronger clubs.

Our home strip was our normal strip surely. We chose to wear that one because we liked wearing it.

What a lot of crap!

You all want us to wear our home strip because it is our history.

Which home strip would you like us to wear?
Red, white and black with a white back and black numbers;
Red, white and black with a black back and white numbers;
Red, white and yellow;
The hot cross bun that was our home strip in '97; or the half dozen other variations we've worn over the years, white collar and cuffs, etc.

I support the St Kilda Football Club and whatever colours they happen to be wearing on the day.
