the Pressure on Ross lyon

Post: # 739267Post Hugh Drod »

ross Lyon is now under enourmous pressure to win the flag or at least pla in the graanny. after winning 7 games we have proven to be good enough so lyon now is under huge pressure .
anything leess than a granny this year and at least one flag in the futur will be very bad. do you think ross is under pressure now?

I can see where you are coming from - but no - I think "The Saints" [including Ross] are under pressure considering our start - but I dont think just Ross is!

PS When reading your post I found myself hurrying - did you type it quickly - lol!

the quesions will be asked that what is wrong if you can't get a team that won 8 in a row by 10 goals to play in the granny.

8 in a row - getting ahead of ourselves??
maybe it will be 23 in a row - or even 25 - no pressure - no more pressure anyway - I bet the pressure he is feeling is better then that which Wallace is feeling!

Perhaps you are confusing him with Hugh Jarss?

Hugh Jarss may have had one too many red cordials and stumbled into the saloon as he does once a year, every year when the blues are under the pump.

When Ross Lyon flies, the altimeter setting is 00.00. Ross Lyon is
never under pressure.

Has to be less pressure...

Last year 9 out of ten Saints fans were howling for him to be sacked, whinging about what he was trying to teach our players etc.....plus a lot of the media where on his case etc...

Expectation may have risen...but "pressure" will be less.

He's under the same pressure Mark Thompson was two years ago, but not as much as Mark Thompson is now because Geelong were expected to win the flag last year and again this year.
For Mark Thompson, nothing less than a flag will be a failure.
However, after making 3 preliminary finals, this group of players need to make the GF to be seen to be mildly succesful, not just RL.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Ross has the team playing as a team and that's a good formula for success, and the only team that will beat us, is a better team ..err i think?

He's won everybody over.

No-one's calling for his head.

Every Saints supporter is enjoying watching the gameplan take effect and realise that he was right all along.

The bottom 6 players have improved out of sight.

Some of us have even started to think that he handles the media well!!

What pressure?

My thoughts on St Kilda from page 9 of this thread have not changed - after the first 7 rounds of 2009, St Kilda has elevated all-ground defensive pressure to a level not seen before in the game's history. Forget the names in the team, they are to a man playing ultimate team football and are in perfect sync all over the ground.

The only issue St Kilda faces is how sustainable their game plan is over the course of a long season - they play a style of football that is very taxing and places punishing physical stress levels on the players. Nobody will know how sustainable their game plan is over the course of a 22 week H&A season plus 4 weeks of finals until the season is done and dusted. But right here, right now, they are as close to unbeatable as you can get.

I am not sure what the OP's original intention was....

I think maybe RL puts himself under pressure, I think he has been looking more tired and run down now that we are winning.

my point is that as a saints member after seeing us play this year my expectatons are now that we win the premiseship this year or next and if we dont then ross has fialed. last year though that pressure and expectation wasnt their but now iti is.
