I expect McEvoy to make the final 22
I believe Armitage's naming is more for encouragement and a statement that he hasn't been forgotten.
Miles is obviously impressing and also being given plenty of encouragement.
I'm tipping Eddy to retain his place if Kosi is pulled from the team prior to the match...he's being given every opportunity to prove his fitness.
Our best set up is with Roo and Kosi and two genuine rucks in Gardiner and McEvoy.
Stevie Baker might be a wild card to be dropped if the selectors were more impressed with Eddy's game last week against Port. Personally I would prefer him in the side to pick up Aker.

He may not be racking up the possessions like others and not able to run as fast or even mark or defend overhead, but Stevie Baker still is the most wiley tagger in the game.
Shutdown Cooney, Acker and Johnson and the dogs will whimper.
But please do not play Baker on Johnson in the goal square ever again.
Johnson will kill him overhead.

So we are no closer to knowing who will actually play.

I actually think we are further away with Armitage's name being thrown into the ring...ace wrote:So we are no closer to knowing who will actually play.

the structure for most of the season (4 matches) has been two recognised ruckmen (gardiner and king) and two recognised key forwards (riewoldt and kosi).casey scorp wrote:That looks a worry.
Kosi should have another week, just for prudency IMO.
McEvoy for King IMO.
Maintain current structure IMO.
i hope both kosi and mcevoy play.

I think that is a fairly accurate assumption. Lyon wants the 22 who are playing match fit and ready. Not coasting on talent to get them in the 22, but full fitness and application.bigcarl wrote: i guess, is that he wants them match-hardened and in peak form before they're even considered.
I think Xavier is in a list behind dal monty and others playing the running game i dont think he would be bought in to replace a grunt player. I think this situation will be the making of the clark brothers.
It might well be that the Clarkes are being given a message that hamstring injuries are preventable if you take warm up and stretching exercises and massage SERIOUSLY, instead of just going through the motions.
Get your bodies right or you wont play.

Blake is needed down backskeptic wrote:I'd expect with Kosi, Gardiner and Blake all in that McEvoy won't make the final cut... unless Kosi is a late withdrawal
Eddy and Armitage would be fighting for the last midfield spot... IMO Eddy will get the nod
Miles would have to displace Gwilt... ain't ognna happen this week
Kosi is needed up forward
McEvoy has been getting possessions around the ground when in the ruck something that has been missing of our ruck stocks so far.

Will be interesting to see the makeup of the Sandy side this week.
Will the Clarkes be in the 18, will Mcevoy, Miles or Eddy be named on the interchange. Might tell us the final 22.
Our boys will proberbly train tomorrow anyway with Kosi having a final fitness test.

To me, it's a very simple equation:
(1) We have 1 confirmed out, King
(2) Lyon is loathe to make unforced changes (why should he??)
(3) Kosi is not in the extended bench - I assume if he misses the cut we could cop a fine? (I mean, surely a 7 man bench should contain those that will be discarded, and all named 18 play???)
(4) So put together points 1, 2 and 3 and you get:
IN: Kosi
OUT: King.

It's not that simple when we are competing against two competent rucks in Minson and Hudson.saintspremiers wrote:To me, it's a very simple equation:

I agree Ace, Baker should play as I think he's the perfect match up for Aker.
CJ should take Higgins IMO, I would give Ray the job on Griffen, I let Geary run with Cooney and make Cooney accountable, give Gilbo the job on Johnson as Johnson played further up near the wing last week and then drifted into the F50. Fisher on Murphy / Blake on Hahn / Zac on Minson.
I imagine Boyd to Dal / Hayes v Cross / Morris on Roo which will mean it's important Kosi plays to take Lake's attention and McEvoy & Gardiner to float down and hopefully be handfulls for Williams.
This will be a cracker, I can't wait as I believe alot rides on this (psych advantage & break the Dog's recent shackles on us) for further into the season.
Rip em a new one Saints!!!
