Really think that this guy can take the next step

Has been in the system now for a couple of years and this year he should hopefully get more time in the midfield

He was recruited as a goal kicking utility and was a VIC country rep and was ranked in the top 20% at the draft camp - he also won the Bendigo Pioneers B&F in 2006 beating Joel Selwood and Daniel Connors though he averaged slightly less disposals than both of them during that year

Maybe slightly undersized he has great endurance, good skills and most importantly is extremely dedicated and works hard

I know it was only a practice match but he along with Goddard were the two players who initiated the comeback against Brisbane in the NAB cup 1st Round once he was switched into the middle

Obviously the last few years he has been played out of position - mainly across half back but I reckon we are going to see more of him in the guts and he could slip under the radar of a lot of teams - if he can put on a little more bulk and grow a few more centimetres and continue his deveolpment he just might suprise a few of us over the next year or so

Am expecting him to play Round 1 and hopefully get thrown in the middle at some stage

I agree also. Both Armo and Geary are ready to step up IMO and not just fill a spot in the seniors but make a difference.

I think these two will start getting everyone excited about our future.

Geary's early form last year was great but he really went off later end of last year. He seems much more built up this year to deal with senior footy.

Our game is based upon running and Geary is close to our best runner and he can really play (45 possessions in vfl is not bad as a kid).

IMO he is future leadership material.

I have always been a Geary fan, back to when he was on the rookie list and was delighted he got the promotion.

I believe that Geary, Steven and Armitage will become starting 22 players in '09...

He is a very well built young man now, probably as physically developed as most our midfielders apart from Ball...

Geary, Steven and Armitage are all huge now...

no.

He wasn't flash at all. Racked 'em up in the VFL, but couldn't cut it in the seniors.

Here's hoping.

big problem that needs to be reversed this... too many VFL starts IMO.

Surprisibgly, Eddy was the only consistant one.

eddy showed good qualities...he looked fearless and got his hands dirty...he looked good up forward and got into good positions

whilst he didnt get large number of possessions that will come once he finds his feet

I'm surprised you made sense of my post...

Eddy wil play 22 games. One problem is that he probably doesn't command the ball. Then again, apart from Milne, none of our forwards do because we go to Roo 99% of the time.

Geary, Eddy and Armitage all look the goods and I am hoping they all come on as it has been awhile since we developed a good young player. Most kids take some time to settle in, and the best way is to get games into them. Goddard was given time to develop because he was a no.1 pick these guys wont get the same chance and have to make a good fist of it. good luck to all of them.

I'm really hoping he'll step up too. But I wasn't impressed last year. He started off well, but by midway he was timidly chipping the ball around (or backwards) and just looking scared of getting it wrong. I thought he had hit a wall mentally and had lost all confidence and initiative.

Eddy, also, has been a big favourite of mine since the moment he was drafted. But I got very disappointed in him too near the end of last year. In the finals he couldn't mark a ball to save his life. He couldn't kick a ball either, or even pick a ball up without falling over.

To me, they will be the litmus tests for this year. If that's really going to be the way they play then I think I'll give up on the Saints' immediate prospects. But if they emerge from their rookie cocoons, and become the confident, power-running players their credentials have always promised, well then we might be in for an exciting year.

Great call. I agree 100% (but Armo first). They are our future.

He's got the skills, but was a bit deer in headlights tonight. It's all mental, maybe a bit slow for round one, but he'll be fine down the track.

He reminds me of a cross between a young Milne and a Stevie Baker. He bobs up when the opposition don't expect it, can finish off but looks hard as nails.

And he's got two threads!

Gave him votes. He was hard, tough, skillful and willing to take risks - the hallmark of the team this year.

and he will continue to improve

down the line he will surely become part of the mid field rotation

and when he does watch him dominate
