DWOODROW wrote:So 1 bad game makes Armo out of contention for the rest of the year. Good on ya's.
Who said he's out of contention for the rest of the year? I just think he's had an interupted pre-season and is working his way up to full fitness. Needs match time under his belt and at this stage of the season (round 4/5) is behind a few others.
while Armitage looks like he's lost confidence and heart,
This comment from ottiman was what I was referring to. one bad game and he's lost heart. One player who has alot of it and hasn't showed his full potential yet. Don't think there is much to your arguement after 1 VFL game. Do any of the other players lose heart when they have a bad day. Come on.
Know that we all want David to succeed. We believe that one day, he might be able to. Try not to take it personally if there's some negativity about his game; we know it's a tough gig.
And equally, yes it is a tough gig, it's very rewarding for those who are good enough and want it enough. Nobody forces you to be a footy player, either.

I hope he makes it. We all do.
I just think saying someone has no heart is a bit strong. Do other St Kilda players get this said about them after 1 game.??????
Choo Choo running around in the seconds was very unimpressive for mine. Does not seem to have the spark. I would consider him a nothing.
Eljay was another one who does not have the AFL-body and was dominated off the ball.
X looked brilliant.

Who did you think were the better players for the Sandy reserves?

you dont need to see much from an AFL player in the VFL.
all you need to know is whether they are ON or OFF.
from what i saw of X he is ON. the way he gathers a possession and breaks a line indicated to me that he is in top line form and ready.
he didn't need to bust a gut but offers more than perhaps a jimmy gwilt at this stage.

2013 trade/draft best ever?
Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck
Dunstan - future captain Eli - future cult hero
Acres - future norm smith

dunno .. they lost
45 for f/ston has a future.
So did you watch the game? Just seems that to kick four goals in a match, you would need to have some sort of "spark", even at that level
sure the site sponsors him and everything..
..just my opinion, time will tell, just dont believe that he is an elite physique.
it's VFL seconds mate - it aint an AFL prelim.

does not appear to have explosive speed.
obviously knows where the goals are. i heard he was very quick but also very skinny and underdeveloped.
Armitage, Howard, X Clarke, Maguire, L Fisher are all at least into their third season as ful time professional AFL footballers.
Their opponents were part-timers, would have liked to have beens.
But alas only good enough to be weekend footballers.
Each of the 5 mentioned players should have been able to take this game by scruff of neck.
Maguire and X Clarke played well for VFL players but their games were not up to the standard required for top of the ladder AFL.
They have the excuse of being underdone.
Armitage, Howard and L Fisher have no excuse and we should not make excuses for them.
They must improve if they are to remain AFL players.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

just does not have extraordinary legspeed.
if you're 5'10" and 70kg you need a turn of foot at AFL level.
has shown only that he has endurance rather than explosivity.

i disagree on X.
X was taking it easy and showed that he still has all of his evasiveness.
if i were ross lyon at this point i would seriously be considering an X over a Jimmy.

I'm going to totally disagree with you there. He has explosive speed - I've seen it with my own eyes & it was the trait the recruiters spoke about also.
Give him a couple of years to mature.
Don't forget his grandfather just passed away & he's probably doing it tough living in a new town.
what is it with a prospective policy.
from what i have seen he is just another tiwi kid that was in the right place at the right time.
sure, the test will come for him and the club over the next two years, but why?
why when there are so many other blokes his age going around with bigger builds is he seriously considered a prospect?

the AFL is the bigtime.
is he genuinely bigtime?
no, he does not have shattering speed.
Disagree...on several occasions last saturday he left players in his wake...on a couple of occasions he has run down players and tackled them...
I would suggest to you that he has quite exceptional speed
