Rd 12 - Saints hit 12-0 for the season with their 12th win in a row over Carlton. S Gilbert 50 games.
Rd 13 - Richmond hold St Kilda goalless for a quarter for the first time this year. Saints repay Richmond by holding them scoreless for two consecutive quarters (last achieved by Essendon who held Fitzroy scoreless for the first half in round 1, 1995) and restricting them to their lowest score since round 18, 1998 (against Hawthorn, 34-70). Rd 14 - St Kilda goes 14-0 to remain on top of the ladder and become the third team in AFL/VFL history to achieve this winning streak behind Essendon in 2000 (20-0) and Collingwood in 1929 (18-0); defeating Geelong for only their 4th loss in 2 years. Crowd at Etihad Stadium of 54,444 a new AFL record. J Blake 150 games. M Gardiner highest goalkicker for the match with 4, the final one being the matchwinner as well as his 100th AFL goal, and celebrating his 30th birthday on the match day.
Rd 15 - 15-zip. The DVD box set is going to be too big to fit in the Christmas stocking! St Kilda sits two games clear on top of the ladder. L Montagna career high 43 disposals, A McQualter 50 games.
Rd 16 - the Saints pound flag aspirants Adelaide for their 16th straight win, moving into the top 10 for AFL/VFL winning streaks of any kind. It is their 17th consecutive win at Docklands stadium which is a new club record for consecutive wins at any venue. A new club record of 478 disposals with personal career highs for F Ray (39), J Gram (34) and S Baker (32). B McEvoy (8 games) 1st AFL goal.

Rd 18 - 18-0 with a 1-point nailbiting win. The Saints' winning streak now equal 2nd with Collingwood's 1929 record. R Clarke 50 games, having taken 6 years to reach this milestone after debuting in Rd 17, 2004.
Rd 19 - The day after the '66 Premiers reunion gathering the Saints of 2009 echoed their winning Grand Final score of 10.14 (74), knocking out 2008 Premiers Hawthorn - the only team the Saints had not met this season. 19-0, a win all the more remarkable for its player absences (2008 AA CHF Riewoldt, 2008 AA CHB Fisher, and top 4 possession winners in 2009 Dal Santo, Montagna, Goddard, and Hayes) and a new AFL record of 115 tackles. Debutant Jack Steven also kicked his first goal. C Begley 1st AFL game for the Saints. The winning streak now moves the Saints to clear 2nd, and equal 5th for winning streaks across seasons.
Rd 20 - St. Kilda record their first loss for the season to Essendon by 2 points, in spite of the return of 8 regulars back into the side, and holding the Bombers goalless in the final quarter. S Milne AFL Army Award.
Rd 21 - Another loss for the Saints, the second in a row and the first consecutive loss for the club since Rd 12, 2008. Ironically with second-placed Geelong losing it's Friday night clash the Saints became a lock for the minor premiership (McClelland trophy since 1991), the 3rd such honour in the club's history.
Rd 22 - the Saints log their 20th win to close out the Home & Away season. Conceding 1411 points for the season, St. Kilda set a record for the lowest points-against since the competition was expanded to 22 rounds in 1970. N Riewoldt 6 goals for 3rd place on the Coleman list and a new personal best season tally of 68, surpassing his 2004 tally of 67. He also took 9 marks for a total of 205 for season to date, leading the League tally by 10. S Milne apparently moved into the midfield to record a career high 26 disposals.
QF - St. Kilda defeats Collingwood 80-52, the fifth consecutive finals victory over the Magpies. The last time Collingwood won a final against the Saints was the 1966 Semi Final. Sam Fisher brings his own ball and uses it 42 times for a new career high, as well as taking 16 marks. N Riewoldt 5 goals to clock a total of 27 in finals, passing Barry Breen's club record of 25 set in 1973, and pass Fraser Gehrig's career total of 390 goals for St. Kilda with 393 to take 4th place for the club's all-time goalkickers.
SF - No footy for the Saints but 5 players are named All Australian with Nick Riewoldt at CHF and team captain, Leigh Montagna and Lenny Hayes in the Centre line, and Nick Dal Santo and Brendon Goddard named as interchange players.
PF - The Saints win their way through to the 6th Grand Final in club history (1913, 1965, 1966, 1971, 1997) after a tense struggle against the Western Bulldogs, prevailing in spite of losing contested ball (130-147) and inside-50 (40-57) figures. It is St. Kilda's first victory against the Bulldogs in a final, having only met twice previously in 1992 and 1961. J Gram 100 games.
GF - St. Kilda lost to Geelong in a crushing encounter in the wet, setting a new AFL record for tackles with 118, and Geelong laying 96 to add to a new AFL record for total tackles in a game; and in spite of dominating the inside-50 count 58-42, and winning the first three quarters. Is that an all-time figure across the entire AFL/VFL comp? There are some pretty scary records if you go back to 1904 and thereabouts.[/quote]Sainterman wrote:Highest ever % after 7 rounds at 208.2
That is St.Kildas highest percentage after round 7 ever.
Third in round 7 to Fitzroy 1900 231.4 and Essendon 1911 211.1
