was talking to a mate over a beer this arvo and commented on the angst displayed regarding the players phoning lapsed members, with some people complaining that people who paid up early were therefore penalised in some way, by not getting a call.

We thought a great way going forward would be every junior member getting a call from a player saying "well done , great job" after joining.

My oldest boy (yep named Harvey) would be over the moon if he got a call, and whilst he will always be a member, we thought the greatest pressure on family memberships would come from kids.

Just throwing an idea out there, maybe before contacting marketing at the club. Calling 30000 members to say thanks might be too difficult, but calling junior members I think would leave a lasting impression on a smaller a number of supporters which, lets face it you parents out there, really do have an influence on family spending. Thoughts please!

Kids idolise their heros and would tell all their mates at school if they got a call from a player, no doubt about that!

I read it the same as you, some seemed to be hurting because they didn't get to speak with a player.

Top idea BTW, would be great marketing.

Just for the record, much as I'd love to talk to a player, my comments were tongue in cheek! Definitely don't begrudge anyone a call for a good cause. Think it was a great marketing idea, as is your idea docsaint!
