Players Sponsor Raffle: how?
The prizes we have available are:-
1 piece framed memorabilia - Raph Clarke
1 piece framed memorabilia - Jack Steven
1 piece framed memorabilia - Nick Heyne
I piece framed memorabilia - Ross Tungatalum
2 tickets match day experience - Raph
2 tickets match day experience - Jack
2 tickets match day experience - Nick
2 tickets match day experience - Ross
2 tickets B&F - Raph
2 tickets B&F - Jack
2 tickets B&F - Nick
2 tickets B&F - Ross
Therefore 12 prizes in total. .
1/ The Raffle for the pre-season Funtion this year went quite smoothly and with a lot of prizes to give away I propose with your general agreement to use the essentially the same system.
(ie I assembled all shares in randomised way with a key so that there is only one order...and that forumites choose numbers which are then the winners. The key being emailed toa Mod just prior to the draw so that it is transparent and can be checked).
2/ However...last time a number of people disqualifield themselves. They may do so again...but I would prefer it that they stay in and simply give the prize toa person of their choosing instead.
3/ Last time I nominated a number of posters to select numbers. This time it will be open to any shareholder to nominate a number (this should speed things up greatly so that winners can be known virtually straight away).
4/ Winners are reminded that if they win that they can dispose of the prize to another if they cannot use it for whatever reason.
For the sake of an option we will accept 15 numbers rather than just 12. This will give any winner a pool of three extra drawn numbers (shareholders) that they at their discretion may choose to use if they cannot use the prize. However I will emphasise that this is purely at their discretion and they are free to use any means they see fit to use.
Winners are also reminded that they are free to transfer the prize to anyone of their choosing and not just shareholders.
If most shareholders who post in this thread are in general agreement I will proceed with this method for the raffle.
In which case I will nominate a time such as 9pm on a given day to allow as many members that choose to to"witness" the draw...and to cast "numbers" to make the draw.
It will also add a bit of fun seeing who can be quickest.
Note that it will be only lodging a number as in the first raffle.

SR....
Some of suggestions from my point of view...
1. Can the sequence start from 50? The reason is whoever gets allocated 7 is gaurenteed a prize anyway.... And 26 or 12 is also a great number to have
2. Last time, numbers were supposed to be atleast 20 numbers apart. I suggest that this rule should be a suggestion rather than hard limit. If any individual does wish to pick a number in sequence - let them so. Nobody except yourself will know the sequence.
3. The date and time be put up in the subject of a sticky thread.
Regards

Yes I did note last time that people initially went for players numbers. So not a bad idea.axcellence wrote: SR....

I will use a different randomised sequence this time. Last time was to guarantee 4 different winners.axcellence wrote:

Yes I will give advance notice...BOTH in the sticky and separately (as some people do not notice stickies).axcellence wrote:

Can I suggest we use a random number generator such as this
http://www.random.org/integers/
The '20 numbers between picks' rule doesn't give everyone an equal chance of having their number picked.

Buffett style meal on level 2- next to the new social club area- with Burkie as host and special guests- Klimmy last year and a player to speak- Armo was available
with seats allocated in front of the room-
they have yet to announce what this years ' experience' will be.

All shareholders = raffle ticket holders.axcellence wrote:No probs with that.saintsRrising wrote:Oh....and has we already had one draw..the "used" tickets from that draw will not be re-used.
Am I reading it correctly that it will be the raffle ticket holders who will pick the numbers or anyone? I have no problem with either.
Only numbers are nominated..not questions answered (we have too many prizes).

We (I) could...but if I did it...I could in theory match winners to numbers (that is cheat).F_Q_F wrote:Can I suggest we use a random number generator such as this

The raffle as outlined is a "Saintsational" Random Number generator
I guess one person could do it and then post the numbers....however as it would not be viewed by another....again in theory I could cheat by teeing up one poster.
However the raffle providesa bit of "fun" for individuals to post numbers.
As I do not know which forumites will get in first, and cannot control it in any way...it is much harder for me to try and rig...and so I think is more transparent?????

Sounds really great guys, but are we over-technifing? the procedure.
What was wrong with the old names out of a hat at a game method we used to have?
In any case, it makes no real difference, I trust you with my money, so I trust you to be fair in the drawing of prizes.
Pay no attention to the brainless twats who will argue with whatever method you choose. Sponsorship should be more about encouraging young players, rather than for personal gain.

I don't really mind, just thinking that the 20 number thing means that the next 20 numbers have 0% chance of winning.saintsRrising wrote: We (I) could...but if I did it...I could in theory match winners to numbers (that is cheat).

Maybe if you get people to PM you their numbers, that way nobody knows the numbers picked so that they are not swayed by other peoples choices.
But it really has no affect on me, none of those prizes are that useful for me. So i'd also like the option to be excluded from the draw rather than me having to choose who to give a prize too...

This is actually simpler for me....and saves me having to hand cut out 400 odd raffle tickets.GrumpyOne wrote:Sounds really great guys, but are we over-technifing? the procedure.

Besides 12 prizes is a few to pull out and record during a match.
This way too more people should be able to "participate" if they too including our interstate and international (though time zones may prevent it) shareholders.

Runinga raffle or a trivia night is a bit like being an umpire. No matter what you do many will not be pleasedEastern wrote:This is a typical case of;

Just a thought; How about it if we leave it up to Mr Magic & saintsRrising to sort it out !!

I am not a shareholder in the players being sponsored however I was wondering why the raffle this year wasn't being drawn at a game like last year? Doing it that way gave everyone the option of being at the drawing of the raffle and ensures that there are no complaints over the prize winners.
I am not criticising the way you are going about it this year just wondering why it was changed

One reason is that I am involved in a 4 day community activity away from Melbourne over Easter..and have to do a mad-dash back to the game.The_Goose31 wrote:I am not a shareholder in the players being sponsored however I was wondering why the raffle this year wasn't being drawn at a game like last year? 2/ Not everyone can actually attend the raffle anyway (and in past years most have not attended including myself as have not be at one yet...) ..ie interstaters, internationals...and even those at the game who do not sit at the MW (myself included).
3/ There are more prizes this year and so the drawing will take longer
4/ results will be posted straight away.
5/ It is simpler for myself for a number of reasons including not having to individualise over 300 tickets as we have a lot more shares this year.
