Should Archie Fraser be terminated immediately??
Just a question re good business practice, nothing sinster and nothing against Archie's character or trustworthiness.
Simply, he is still involved in the sporting industry for a competitor code.
Had he moved into a different industry, then fine, keep him on until end of April.
But prudent business sense IMO should necessitate his immediate leaving of the club (paid until end of April if need be of course!).
This can be done in decent, respectful way without ill feelings.
Thoughts???

both parties have come to a conclusion so that is fine with mesaintspremiers wrote:Just a question re good business practice, nothing sinster and nothing against Archie's character or trustworthiness.

and in addition to this the sport played is played during the summer months...it isn't that big a competition to our code
however if one wanted to be very detailed they could argue archie would be formulating plans to drag people away from afl..saving their money...watching the a-league...clubs suffer...some go out of business
but truthfully i see no real competition from soccer...and any other code in australia
i think he is a talented man, someone people should aspire to be like in terms of cleverness and work ethic
not at all...

I would think it would be different proposition if he was moving to a direct competitor as in another AFL club ala Greg Swann.
I worked in the banking industry for a number of years and it was not uncommon for colleagues to be asked to clear out their desks immediately and leave the building, escorted, when they announced they were moving to a competitor.
Can anyone remember how Ben Buckley departed from the AFL?

I think it is fine for Archie to stay. Whatever people may like or dislike about him, he has always had the clubs best interests at heart and would always do the right thing and work hard till he leaves.
Also , Nettlefold would have things to wrap up on his business front, and I suspect archie has been and will continue to do a professional handover.

There is clearly an agreement between the Club and Archie about when he is to finish up. There is no possible advantage, either in a business sense or at a personal level for him to finish early given the circumstances. He has accepted a job offer at a FAR HIGHER salary compared to Saints and it would be costing him money to stay on to changeover. This just shows me his professionalism and his regard for ther Club.
