More than "a lot" of Saints supporters don't live on that line. Many live in the northern and eastern suburbs and will no longer be bothered going to the family day. The result will be fewer kids following the Saints in the future.
I know of many families that used to go to family days at Moorabbin, but did not go last year because it was too far. Their kids will no longer have the enthusiasm to follow the Saints.
Yep embrace Frankston and stuff everyone else in the process and they wonder why people are dropping off!

Oh yes of course it's too far for people even outer the melbourne area!! Definitely of course you win some, you lose some. It's very difficult to please every supporter with where you stage the event.
Well seeing as the club is called St Kilda and St Kilda is a central location which is fair for everyone, any chance the club could have any link to St Kilda at all?

Give it a rest mate!
I didn't notice you complain when they were held at Moorabbin for many years.
So you do happen to realise that Moorabbin is NOT St Kilda.
Also good to see that you can finally type St Kilda instead of St. Kilda, being a fan with deep tradition, that was clearly an oversight by you in the past

if your a cheer squad member you will know that there is no such thing as 'too far away' to support your club.
from a 1 hour train trip down to Frankston, to a 4 hour flight to perth, its always great to see the loyalty of us saints fans.
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

The difference is St Kilda actually played football at Moorabbin, and it was our home ground, so it made sense!

I fail to see the relevance in that.
Again, I really couldn't give a rats where the players train.
The mere fact the the Frankston Council has welcomed the Club and are providing funds for the new facility is enough for me to support and assist in the Clubs Family Day.
A previous suggestion of having the Family Day at Sandringham is just an insult to the Frankston Council and any suggestion of going to St Kilda is the same.
Those councils don't support us, so why would the Club want to have a function in their municipality ??

i am hoping that :
1. true st kilda supporters will still enjoy going today and make the trip .
2. the club picks up new interest and membership from around the frankston area.
i think it is a good idea to try for more club presence down there , and over time attract new members , or convert supporters to members.
I cant imagine any current member ceasing membership because of this change of venue. We finished 4th last year. We are not in a financial hole. We are never talked about in the same way as bulldogs, north and melbourne. We dont have the "desperate situation" driving membership. Nor do we have many thousands of supoporters from the 80s who picked up following the hawks through those times , who have now re joined.
We need to grow new membership in different ways.
Just as those who live in the inner south east suburbs liked it at moorabbin, so I hope will those in the outer bayside like it at frankston oval. And i hope they join up .
We go to most of them.
But certainly won't be bothered driving down to Frankston for it.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Should be a fun day for everyone now
Kids will love it too.....
Was good to travel all the way from Gippsland to see the family day, but fair enough to those who think Frankston is too far....maybe they can hold the next family day on your doorstep
Those there had a ball....and I cleaned up the raffle to boot

Don't confuse loyalty with having an abundance of money.
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Well good for you
I was handing out members scarfs and caps to SUPPORTERS who travelled from areas like Ballarat, Shepparton and other regional areas...
But, some may see your point
agreed i met quite a few from gippsland which is fantastic that they made the trip. Lots of dedicated fans waiting in the rain and cold this morning before the gates were open which was fantastic to see.
Also great to see that the Club has just the one Cap for their members.
A scarf for every member and also the one cap if you are a reserved seat holder or a Social Club Member.
The amount of stuffing around in handing out specific caps last year was horrendous, which resulted in long queues, but this year handing out the caps and scarfs was a breeze for me.
