Next St Kilda Captain?
I'm bored so I thought I'd pose a hypothetical question.....Roo has stepped down as captain, who would you choose as the next st kilda captain?
For me I'd pick BJ...arguably our 2nd best player, still young and could be captain for 10 years, only down side at this point is that he can lose control of his emotions at times, but that would settle with experience in the job...

You can't go past BJ but I think his timing might be off, by the time Roo retires BJ will probably be in his late 20's and I'd hope we would have a suitab;e replacement in the 24-25 age group by that point.

next st kilda captain
someone from far left field Steven King until the younger players get more leadership Qualities
BJ and Lenny Hayes S Fisher and even a Joey Montagna could also do the job I want to see L Ball play a whole season without injuries first then the other 15 players would make good captains because at Stkilda we got quality young men

Unless Roo packs up and heads to GC17, then I'm afraid none of the current crop of potential leaders will get a chance.
This would be my worst nightmare!!!
But Ball, Fisher, Goddard and Hayes would all be very capable captains, something that I feel GT was responsible for and something that we as a club should always acknowledge.
As for the rest of our list, we'll just have to wait and see.

[quote="ralphysaints35"]Armo....
young and i think will be a future captain,
Big statement as he hasn't even established himself as a regular player yet!!!
Although I hope your right as we need someone from our younger brigade to take the next step and quickly, as the rest of the teams have all nearly had someone out of the previous couple of drafts '06 and '07 become not just regulars but very good players .
Selwood, Palmer, Gibbs, Rioli, Davey and Crotchin just to name a few.

Hope you're right. If, however, he has continuing knee trouble, then he may struggle to extend his playing career more than 2 or 3 more years. Hope I'm wrong.saintbob wrote:Unless Roo packs up and heads to GC17, then I'm afraid none of the current crop of potential leaders will get a chance.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
I would really love Lenny to be captain but if we are talking about younger up & coming players.
Sam Fisher would be my first pick, always leads from the front. If Luke Ball can stay on the park he would be my second pick.

If you can't give the commitment you gave this year and you don't want to improve, you can go because we have unfinished business-Ross Lyon
