SS v Nicks results
well, it was always going to be a tough game. i got there at about 12.30pm to help set up the bbq and all, to find about 12 'Nicks' already there setting up and having a chat. by 1pm I was starting to get a bit worried, still the only saint there, and had the question asked by about 25 different people if we are turning up. Eventually some guys started to rock up, but not enough for a team. by 2pm we only had about 11 players and slowly made our way up to 15 by about 2.10, then had to borrow players. very poor effort by the people who said they would show but didn’t, except the ones that gave me warning.
the game started off well as we kicked the first 2 in about 10 mins, then i went off with a deadly injury and we started to lose never got back in front as of about the 15th minute mark of the first.
At 3 qtr time it looked as though it was all over as we were 4 goals down and didn’t look like a threat to them. Joffa put the gold jacket on with about 8 mins to go while they were a good 5 goals up.
The after match BBQ was amazing, there was cans of drink, burgers, snags, salad, potatoes...it was just brilliant, well done to the collingwood ladies who cooked everything for us.
That’s pretty much how the day went, i think it was 5 goals in the end, but in a way I would rather lose by 5 goals and make it close than win by 220 like we did last time.

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
Sorry guys....due to my media commitments I missed my first forum game in 6 years .
And as a result dain missed too.
wish I could have tried to help out but well done to those who played and to yipper for umpiring.
Sounds like the pies were great with the organising of the barbeque and granting access to social club etc, so well done to them. Would play them again anyday.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. You ate their potato salad? you were hungry? surely,u wouldnt eat any food prepared by collingwood fans, espectially with a white mayonaise. Joffa probably helped his sister flavour the potato salad

Good game for those who turned up. Worrying sign lately as numbers have been poor.
Just for the record - Collingwood had in excess of 22 players on the field at any one time. The one and only head count totaled 26 on the field.
Some notable players:
Adam played a brilliant first half, with Tower and Chief solid in defence.
Not a lot of runners for the Saints - Macca dominated and was without doubt best on ground for the red white and black. With the young bloke in the midfield who received a corky a close second.
Shannon was brilliant playing ruck and contesting well against a bloke double his size.
Look forward to another game, probably won't eventuate until next season. Would love a hit out against the Tigers or Blues.
Cheers

Managed to find a decent shot of myself from some photos a Pie's bloke took.

Pretty sure I ended kicking the ball straight to one of their blokes though . . .

I know it is difficult, especially without our spiritual leader HD, but we need some coordination of on-field roles. Happy to do a half down back, but I like to have a run up the field a bit too. I know we have many players who would normally play at various levels, but we need to have some sort of overall organisation to make sure we aren't running around like chickens without heads.
Having said that, it was a pretty good effort on Sunday considering, and I've got the sunburn to prove it.

When people say they're in they should assign themselves a couple of positions they play, and also what level they play at and Dools, HD or another volunteer can come up with a squad

only problem with that is people dont always turn up, and that stuffs up all the work you did on the team. so HD just asks people where they want to play and they get a run there, thats why we did, its the easiest and quickestEB wrote:Probably needs to be organised beforehand imo.ThePunter wrote:I know it is difficult, especially without our spiritual leader HD, but we need some coordination of on-field roles. Say 4 people don't turn up, it's gonna be a lot easier to organise those 4 positions than all 18 at once.saintdooley wrote:only problem with that is people dont always turn up, and that stuffs up all the work you did on the team. so HD just asks people where they want to play and they get a run there, thats why we did, its the easiest and quickestEB wrote:Probably needs to be organised beforehand imo.ThePunter wrote:I know it is difficult, especially without our spiritual leader HD, but we need some coordination of on-field roles.
