Saints show support for bushfire victims
The St Kilda Football Club has committed to a number of fundraising efforts that will aid the victims of the Victorian Bushfires that devastated the state and drew worldwide compassion on February 7.
The Saints’ multi-faceted relief effort will commence immediately at this Saturday night’s NAB Cup clash against Brisbane on the Gold Coast where all jumpers worn by the players will be signed and auctioned online. Those players who are not selected in the game day squad will be greeting fans and tin rattling outside Gold Coast Stadium before the game.
Furthermore, St Kilda players will have the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal phone number emblazoned on their match shorts to increase awareness and encourage everyone viewing the game to pledge their support by calling 1800 811 700.
The AFL recently announced that half of the gate takings from the NAB Cup match will be donated to the fund and a minute of silence will be observed before the game in recognition of the loss and suffering.
Sean Dempster and Jarryd Allen who have long term injuries and are not travelling to the Gold Coast will appear on Channel 9’s “Australia Unites – The Victorian Bushfire Appealâ€

watched a lot of the telethon on channel eddie and heard him make a few references to the pies, saw hawthorn, richmond, geelong getting in on the act and a ranga from the dees wandering aimlessly in the background (or forwardline...? wait and see), but didn't see anything from stkfc. little disappointed. but i like the appeal phone number on the shorts. good short-term idea, should also raise awareness that we need a sponsor there!
2010 has a nice ring to it.

they were in prime position behind the commentators on one of the phone crosses and managed to get their photo taken with Molly.

i dont think it really matters, the media will always want to talk to the premiers...a judd-like figure who was present...get him to say a few words and probably some other random player i.e a new captain
we didnt fit the mould of any of those present...
big deal
