I thought the other day when I rang I was getting alist of our sponsors- which was clever marketing- but by the time I realised I was through..sainter35 wrote:I renewed our memberships today.
You know it's the only time you are actually pleased to be placed on hold because it not only means there must be plenty of other people buying memberships but you get to listen to the Triple M and other radio stations highlights of our season.
and I'm pleased to hear you were on hold
1 hour to go sainters...........

Posted this on Saints Central in the Ask Archie section:
And got the following response from Archie:
Hi there,
I am a 2008 member, but because of my involvement in Junior Footy on Sundays, I would be unable to attend any Sunday matches the Saints play.
Because of our draw in 2009 with all our Sunday home games, it would not be feasible for my family to obtain a standard membershiip in 2009. I normally get the standard 11 game membership with my sons the standard Junior membership with no reserve seating. The 16 or 17 game membership would be ok but still would not get value for money as I would not be able to attend any Sunday games.
I know that I am not the only one, and other people in previous years may have had similar issues with Saturday or Sunday games.
What I am suggesting for future years is that the club offer a 10 or 11 game membership that can be used for either home or away Victorian games. This would make going to watch the Saints alot more flexible depending on anyone's personal circumstance.
Personally, as it stands, it would not be feasible for me to purchase a 2009 membership unless I was just making a donation to the club. I fully intend to go to approx 10 or so Saints games in 2009 but most of these will be away games that are not played on Sundays. So I will have to pay the General Admittance (along with my kids) to these games.
What do you think of this proposal for 2010 or is there some factor about home games that I am not aware of regarding memberships? I know that the club encourage attendance at home games, but when this is not possible, wouldn't it be great to have maximum exposure at away games?
And got the following response from Archie:
Reasonably happy with that response especially the undertaking to bring it up with the AFL when they meet. More flexibility would be great.Hi Saintbart,
Sorry to hear you won’t be able to attend as many games in 2009. It’s always a tough and unenviable job for the AFL to schedule a complete season of matches and we would have preferred less Sunday games, but we will seek to make the most of what we’ve been dealt.
The Club is only able to offer membership packages approved by the AFL and this does not include 10 or 11 game memberships at this point in time. We understand it’s going to be difficult for some of our supporters to attend the same amount of games in 2009, but we implore you to make every effort you can to get behind us. The best way of changing our draw in future is to increase our attendance and membership figures.
I think it’s a great idea you have presented and we will bring it up with the AFL when we next meet to assess membership options.
Go Saints!
Archie

Would be great if we just concentrated on getting Saints supporters to sign up to the Saints.
Who gives a toss why other clubs members sign up - if members are so fickle they would or wouldn't sign up over a certain player, it says a LOT regarding that individual and their support of their club.
Jump on board Saints supporters, buy a membership and support our list.

It's like subscribing to the Age for just 4 days a week and they will throw in a Saints membership.

Or on second thought...
What if the Age sent out a promotional letter to subscribe to the Age at a discounted price, for maybe a 4 or 5 or 7 day deal and they will throw in a Saints membership...

Fid - why would The Age want to cannabilise there readership by only getting $25 revenue for themselves, when they can screw hundreds more out of gullibule suckers??St Fidelius wrote:Yeah I thought it was a good idea, I wonder why the Club has not approached the Age for them to at least consider itsaintbrat wrote:would be a great idea Fid- and they'd still be saving 150 on their subscription.St Fidelius wrote:Or on second thought...

Why would they want to potentially convert 7 day a week subscribers to revert to 4 days a week for $350 less per person??
Perhaps they could consider a targetted mailout to those ex-subscribers who have not subscribed for a couple of years or more - ie. unlikely to subscribe again unless it's a ripper deal.
So.....
The deal would be: Pay $190 and get The Age Fri,Sat,Sun,Mon and an 11 game Saints membership.
BUT.....
How many (or few) getting the mailout would actually be Saints fans? Not many methinks....

I never mentioned a price so I have no idea what you mean by saying $25.
I never mentioned about "converting" any subscribers.
All I am suggesting is that if an Age reader sees that they will be saving around $200 a year by subscribing to the Age they might just do that

Maybe, I just didn't explain my idea more clearly...
What if the Age offered households say around $20 -$25 a month for the Age to be delivered 7 days a week??
They would save well over $200 a year from the newspaper alone and also receive a free adult St Kilda membership.
This will appeal to Saints followers that are not members and are not on the Clubs database.
This may still appeal to non Saints supporters that normally purchase the Age or just think it's a good deal because of the savings.
It's basically introducing a reversal of what the Club is offering, so that there are two ways the Age could help.
The Club promotes the Saints and their sponsor, the Age.
and
The Age promotes their paper and the Saints

I thought the roll over was great also. Got a letter to say that my credit card transaction was a dud and unless I gave new credit card details by 8.1.2009, I may forfeit membership. bulls***. It's the same credit card used for the past four seasons. It's still valid and if any one has made an error, it's the membership department.
I have read posts from members saying they are being forced to upgrade to social club status or forfeit their reserved seats. Is this correct ? What is going on. This club should be going out of their way to accommodate existing members and prospective members. Get with the program guys. If the number don't work, open up your eyes and type in the correct digits. If an existing member doesn't want to upgrade to social club status, so be it.
I buy six memberships. I don't want to be given any sort of run around. The Age offer doesn't apply to some of us members in Central Victoria because we live in the middle of nowhere. I love the DVD's and caps etc. So do the kids.
Show me a club that is competitive on the field and up front with its members at every opportunity and I will show you a club that doesn't have to beg for members. People want to be a part of something special. I happen to think that the StKilda football club can be something special. Stop the bulls*** and be honest about club finances, board decisions and everything St Kilda.

MOST Credit Cards only last for 2-3 years. If you are in this category, the club would have your OLD expiry date that won't work anymore. I'm not sure, but you might be able to update through your profile on the saints website !!Longwayfromhome wrote:I thought the roll over was great also. Just a question, what is your credit card's expiry date?
(and if it is still valid, ie. the club has stuffed up, please all give me your name, the full card number, CCV etc, so I can on a spending spree on your behalf )

No it would not. people are to smart to think that has any bearing on the year as shown by the figures after we won it last season. We are a 28000-32000 membership club at best unless we finally win a flag.Pilgram wrote:Consecutive NAB Cups would see it double before Round 1.saintbrat wrote:17,500 reported to be the number at the front counter on 27th Dec
