On the eve of the draft - what type do we need?
I don't know enough about individuals but i do know the type of players we need to balance up our list a bit.
The first pick should be some sort of running player preferably medium 185cm +
Pick 47 & 48 hopefully be taller, maybe a KPP, don't mind if one is a taller project player learning the game.
Probably Carroll I suppose...
And maybe another outside runner with a long kick (ala Young from the Hawks)
I hope we see another ruckman and a couple of KPP's rookied, we lack so much depth in talls.....
Please no weedy outside players who can't use their body (or kick it long)
Please no small inside player with no pace
Please can we have an exciting fast aboriginal player for a bit of wow factor
We need a couple of footballers with extraorinary footy smarts.....
Please can we have some list balance through the draft and not the trade period....
And maybe a back flip on Cousins to boot

Spoke to someone today and they said the club has made the decision not to take Carroll ... someone very friendly with a member of our coaching staff ... take it for what it's worth.
That said I think we will take 5 kids on Saturday.
I would hope that we took 2 x KPP's (one KP back), 2 x pacy inside players and either another young ruckman or an outside/running player.

Again I have knowledge of the kids in the draft but I think we take a midfield type, big runner with pace when needed to make position with ball handling and brain skills to go with it. Someone with some development has some strength to their game as well. ( Sounds like a blue print for Chris Judd doesn't it). Anyway a hard running midfield type as No 1
Next a forward capable of applying real pressure (a Sammy type would fit the bill)
Then KPP's. We are on borrowed time with at least one now.

I will be profoundly disappointed to select Tom Lynch in the first round, as Matt Burgan has us doing.
He is one of those players who isn't quite tall enough to be a KPP yet not nimble enough to be a small forward or midfielder either.
They can sometimes come through as a third tall but I'd rather not, especially with our first round. Agree that best available midfielder with selction 13 is a must. Next three selections to be a key defender (possible Post), a key forward (possibly/hopefully Cornelius) and another midfielder (Banner). Round it up with Carroll, must be taken with our last selection talk of pick 47/8 is ridiculous.

Maybe pace, but hardly a hard ball get agressive player at a weight of what 72kg or something. Really don't want to pick up another light weight mid who will take 3 years to mature. I know we can't draft a ready made mid out of the kids but I don't want another twig added onto the list.tweedaletomanning wrote:So, 1 order of Sam Blease, thenmcadam05 wrote:PACE PACE PACE
We need a Ben Cousins type.
Too bad they dont come along where you can pick them up easily.

Lance or James??
