Given my dealings with the club this week i have got to laugh at them promoting strenght through loyalty, apparently it only goes one way.

Still cannot believe that my offer of having my son's membership transferred to my name and therefore purchasing both seats as adults has not been accepted.

I did not see anything in the brocure that suggests you cannot purchase more than one seat.

Also note that the club is wanting to turn level 2 into a fortress and has gained an extra 1000 seats surely this would elivate the problem of the 500 that were previously turned away, they can market it how they like but the introduction of the compulsory social club membership is nothing but a money making opportunity.

After reading through the brouchue feel even more ripped off. I would encourage any of the 40% of level 2 reserve seat holders who do not currently have a social club membership to contact the club and voice their displeasure.

great i get a tea towel instead of a scarf :S

the swing to a non family/general public game widens.

if i cant purchase an interstate membership AND a social club ill be ticked off

edit:
errrr....i just read the small print in the pdf

"* Please note that although Country/Interstate Members have the
right to purchase finals tickets in preference to non-Members this does
not extend to the AFL Grand Final either with or without Social Club
Membership"

so i get no preference in a GF ticket over NON vic members?
sheeesh....no point getting one then :(
im pretty disappointed

I/S & Intnl memberships with SC have never entitled you to GF ticket purchase.

Chandelle reads SS and is aware of the situation, but can only pass on complaints the membership dept actually recieves via phone, email or letters.
How can they not be surprised???

Surely the Club must realise that it's effecting BOTH Social Club Members and NON Social Club members??

The Current Social Club Members will no longer sit next to friends that are Non Social Club Members

Reserved seating areas

saint66au

Hi

The 2009 Membership brochure states that one of the benefits of a reserved seat is "seating in an exclusively St Kilda area"

Is this actually going to happen? . In previous years Unsold yearly seats have been put on sale to the general public on game day, resulting (On Levels 1 and 3 anyway) in numerous opposition fans among the ranks.

Are steps being taken to try and have only saints members be able to buy those seats on game day..and will there also be reminders that your seat strictly isnt transferabe, especially to scarf-wearing fans of the team we are playing!

Cheers and good luck with the 2009 drive

Michael

Hi Michael,

Believe me, we hate this too! The Club would love nothing more than to see an entire level of enthusiastic red, white and black supporters but the reality is not so simple.

While Memberships are not transferrable, unfortunately a number of fans abuse this policy and pass their card on to friends or family members (who support the opposition!) when they cannot attend a game. We have made the Telstra Dome aware of this and they have assured us they will brief their gate attendants to be more vigilant from 2009 onwards.

Bear in mind that while venue staff can be advised to check, it is literally impossible to check that everyone is a legitimate St Kilda Member as the time and associated cost would make it a logistical nightmare and completely unfeasible.

The Club has always (and will continue to) request that the Telstra Dome only sells vacant seats to St Kilda Members. On the whole they are quite accommodating, but there are never any guarantees.

Saintdebi

Hi. I'm wondering if there is any official form of waiting list to gain front row reserved seats? We have been members for the past 9 years, reseved seat holders for 4 and our aim is to hopefully one day have seats on the boundary. Of course we realise that seats can only be allocated when they are vacated, and I'm sure others would love these seats too so I'm not expecting them to just magically become available, but each year we put in a request just in case. We were hopeful last year with two new bays opening to reserved seat members, but it still wasn't to be. We'll keep trying, but I just wondered if we are going the right way about it?

S_M

Hi Debi,

This year the Club has decided to give preference to existing Members who wish to change seats over new Members signing up in 2009. If you wish to change you seat, please ensure that your application, payment and change of seat form is received by the Club before the 5pm deadline on December 19th to ensure you are given preference. All of these forms will be arriving in the post throughout the next few days.

If you have any additional questions, please call 1300 GO SAINTS!

......

* Just an important note from S_M

As your Membership package has changed this year, you will need to call 1300 GO SAINTS to talk to our staff about 2009 Membership options. At present our internet renewal facility only processes new Memberships or “no change to package.â€

Actually there is a surreptitious price increas this year. They are charging the same amount as Season 2008 when we had 11 home games at TD but in 2009 we are only getting 10 home games.

There was a major price hike for 2008 because we added 2 home games at TD (previously we played 2 home games in Taswegia), which was explained away by the Membership Dept as 'we've given you 2 more games at TD'.

WHy isn't there a decrease this year when there is 1 game taken away from TD and given to Gold Coast?

Canny marketing :-)

Actually i believe that at one of our away games we will be given free admitance and an "area" for reserved seat holders...plus unlike Tasmania your membership will admit you to the GC game

I don't agree with this, if families (or any member) with reserved seats are paying up to 2k p.a. in membership - I can't see the harm in bringing the occasional neutral/opposition supporter along with. Especially in the 99% circumstance where the invited guest does not interfere with the enjoyment of the game by anyone else.

The email the club sent around last year reeked of paternalistic discipline of members, and trying to enforce the strict legal conditions of not sharing your membership.

If the behaviour of any invited guests meets the standards imposed by TD staff/security - I really don't see the harm or the need for the club/TD to be more vigilant in enforcing the identity of reserved seat holders. If they are disruptive to someone's enjoyment of the game - then head down the path of establishing the bona fides of their ticket/entry.

I agree with you on the preference for selling excess seats to saints supporters, but can't quite fathom why you would be encouraging the club to reduce the value enjoyed by reserved seat holders who like to maintain the option of inviting guests - who are fully aware that they are in a St Kilda members area and conduct themselves accordingly.

In a time, where the club is looking to suck more Revenue per member, we don't need to 'help' them by looking for ways to remove value.
