ST KILDA DECIDES NOT TO PROCEED WITH BEN COUSINS
Moderators: Saintsational Administrators, Saintsational Moderators
Hey people, did i miss the party or what lol???
Man this took me no bulls*** half an hour to read....
There are some few good comments about the decision and some shockers about people tearing up memberships...
I was gutted about the decision personally as i have wanted him to become a saint and help us for our next flag. I can only hope now that the clubs sticks to its youth plan and doesn't draft NC for only 1 reason and that is because of his age... i also think that he could help us out like some people have said to release Bj and gram into the midfield.

Ahhh OK..so you werent one of the people here demanding WCE be stripped of their 2006 flag when Ben's problem's came out???Get this through your head Archie, Greg et al... Our ONE and ONLY priority is to win the flag NEXT SEASON... not to make granduous statements and moral choices...

Who did the club send to suicide watch on Ben. No-one.
Oh silly me, that's right, clubs don't care about players because players are cattle not people.
You just fatten them up, then slaughter them.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Not happy but hey the club knows what is best for St Kilda FC end of story.
Good luck to BC in the future.

You are obviously talking about WCE, because he has not been our problem. He is NOT a Saint, never HAS been a Saint, and WON'T be a Saint.ace wrote:Who did the club send to suicide watch on Ben. No-one.

Last club he was with is WCE, they are (along with the individual himself)responsible for his culture and associates and problems.
If you dare consider STKFC remotely responsible for him right now, you are a goose.

but also must mention 'the club knows what is best for St.kilda' has let down st.kilda so often through its "colourful" history.

Perhaps we are doing this so Brisbane think that they have him secured in the PSD and we can use our last ND pick on him instead of having to waste a 3rd rounder??

sooo sooo disappointing... clubs fault got everyones hopes up... really is... a sad day for the supporters today like we've lost a final... he would have been a driving force and HOPE for a flag... renewed hope would have only been a smart marketing and footy move now... no new blood or aquisition...
Maybe there's a reason the board said no - that just possibly in their 5 month investigation they figured he wouldn't be that example.St Michele wrote:I'm very disappointed in this decision, I truely believed he would be an assett to our club. I also beleive he would be someone the young guys could look at to understand how they needed to manage themselves and not get into the same situation.

Exactly. Nor did the club officially state that they would recruit him.Iceman234 wrote:Cheerschook23 wrote:I will clarify for youIceman234 wrote:OK were they legit pics? What a funny situation...
BC is a druggie (aka) White Ice... white line fever... west coke eagles and so on...
BC is our only hope for a flag. Give the guy a 2nd chance.
The board is weak... teasers... and so on.
Go figure.
The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

So you are also happy to see all the other de-listed players we have said no to, ripping us a new a-hole.Saintschampions08 wrote:Can't wait to see him ripping all the teams that said no, (including us), a new a-hole next year.
I hope to god he gets the chance to play with Brisbane next year, deserves a shot and i'm sure if he gets it he'll deliver.
Re-ass ess where your loyalties are.
Can't even say he's gone, move on.
He was NEVER here.

Interesting, because I posted that the AFL wanted Cousins to go away.saintly_safes wrote:Didnt really want to post on a seventeen page post & have given my thoughts on this saga on another post but the clubs hands were tied firstly by the AFL & then by Ben himself. Will post again after the dust has settled
Would not surprise me one little bit.

I just can't believe the vitriol towards the board for having made a five month assessment of a bloke who they may or may not have taken, and have never committed to having taken.
Far too many on here had him as the messiah and taking either #9 or (God forbid) #35.
But he was never ours. NEVER.
Someone suggested who did we put on suicide watch for him FFS.
I have rarely read such madness on our site over a player who is a 30 year old hamstrung recovering drug addict, allegedly been using for ten years prior to his disclosure, which was way too late in coming.
They're the facts, he was never a Saint.
However long term Saints supporters are saying they're going to throw away their memberships because of the board not taking him?
So no, I can't figure at the moment.

He basically was.Iceman234 wrote:So you are also happy to see all the other de-listed players we have said no to, ripping us a new a-hole.Saintschampions08 wrote:Can't wait to see him ripping all the teams that said no, (including us), a new a-hole next year.

The club hyped it up to every little inch without saying no.
They had several meetings with him, in cafe's, in restaurants...the team captain said basically said he would like to play with him.
Go figure why 80% of the board is extremely dissapointed, it's because the club built it up and then destroyed it with an anti-climax.
The club, if it truly didn't want him because of 'youth' issues, shouldn't have had the need to pursue him this aggressively.
Do they do it to every player they think about recruiting? No.
