Seriously though. There must be reasons for not persuing him.
Look at the holes in our list.
We were spanked by Geelong and Hawthorn out of the centre in the finals.
We all know thsat where our problems lie.
We pick up a reasonable player in Ray but lost a once in a lifetine champion in Harvey.
We NEEDED a Cousins for our midfield.
The club and board aren't stupid, either is the coach. they understand how valuable Cousins would be in the midfield for the Saints and how it would give us a very big advantage.
They know all this.
So why did they not persue Cousins???
When this was so needed by the Saints?
It would have to be for other reasons and they must be compelling.
Have faith in the admin to make the best decisions for the club. Cousins was obviously NOT in the clubs best interests.
I am dissapointed but not overwrought.
To spit the dummy and threaten not to take up a membership over a player is incredibly infantile.
The club is not one player. Otherwise we should all not renew our memberships after Harvs retired. A much more worthy reason to stop watching the Saints than Cousins.
No keep on with the membership if Cousins is the only issue.
lets all move on and worry about how the hole left by Harvs will be filled.
Lance or James??

Yes, but don't let facts get in the way of imbecilic threats to tear up membershipsLegendary wrote:The club has undertaken a 5-month process.
They have spoken to everyone at length and every factor has been considered.
People with a wealth of football and business experience have made a decision not to recruit Ben Cousins.
They do not do so based on whims or farscial reasoning.
Is it no coincidence that 14 other clubs said "no", and St Kilda have also said "no" after such a lengthy process?
Fine to disagree with the decision, but don't attack the club and tear up your membership.
They made what was obviously one of the most thorough and reasoned decision they've ever made.
I think we need to respect that.
The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

That message was sent by the AFL AOK, and need not be supported by the STKFC. The ball is in BC's court now to convince someone to pick him up and continue his rehab.aussierules0k wrote: The lessen we are meant to learn here is.. "do drugs - your career is over." Actually, when I think about it, the club in the old days might just have dozed straight into Cousins land without putting much thought to it at all.
I was wishing Ben could be a Saint, I am pi$$ed too, but I also see things don't quite add up with the whole saga.
Also, for mine, Nathan could still be a great asset to us if picked and at the end of the day we all get angry at times, shyt I have often wondered why I follow them, but I love em, can't help it
Go Saints, in 2009

interesting.Richter wrote:Fatpryk got it spot on when he said that RL never wanted him.
what puzzles me is why we stuffed around for so long and sent out all the wrong messages before making a decision.
was it pressure from sponsors? did brisbane make a better offer? was it the coach's call?
though i disagree with the decision, i can live with it.
but i'd like to know the real reason.

hope the same thought is given on Carroll.
I wish the club undertook such obviously extensive process on every decision they made.
15 clubs have said a definite "no" ... of those 15, we did by far the most groundwork and we also said "no".
Surely that can't be a coincidence?
To those people throwing a tanty over this, have you considered that maybe there was a valid reason that the club hasn't made public?
TBH, if there is, I'd much prefer we said nothing and copped the flak rather than going down the Collingwood path.
If no other club picks him up then I would say that vindicates the board's decision.

TBH, no not really. There are plenty more people in worse situations, and a lot of them hit more close to home for more people. I feel empathy for him but you have to remember, he made his own bed...ohwhenthesaints! wrote:Why is no-one concerned about Ben, isn't anyone worried for him?
