We are sponsoring
Raphael Clarke
Jack Steven

I knew democracy was still alive and well.
Why do I think I'm in Zimbabwe?

Clearly in the 'Core Group' it was Raph and in the 'Development Group' it was Steven.
Sorry mate, and as I said in the PM, irrespective of the result, the process sucked.Mr Magic wrote:The decision was made on the basis of which players received the most nominations.GrumpyOne wrote:So the decision was made on the basis of whose names were posted in the LARGEST FONTS.Mr Magic wrote:There is a 'Who should we vote for thread?' that posters have been making nominations in.GrumpyOne wrote:Did I miss the vote?Mr Magic wrote:Confirmed by the Club.

Sorry Grumps, I take heed of your perspective but I disagree.GrumpyOne wrote:Sorry mate, and as I said in the PM, irrespective of the result, the process sucked.Mr Magic wrote:The decision was made on the basis of which players received the most nominations.GrumpyOne wrote:So the decision was made on the basis of whose names were posted in the LARGEST FONTS.Mr Magic wrote:There is a 'Who should we vote for thread?' that posters have been making nominations in.GrumpyOne wrote:Did I miss the vote?Mr Magic wrote:Confirmed by the Club.

GrumpyOne - with all due respect, there was a post asking opinions and it was open to everyone. There was overwhelming support for Raph and Jack as players we should back. There were other suggestions but no others gained the same enthusiastic support from posters. Having said that, let's remember this is about supporting the club and the players so who we actually sponsor is really not the point, but that as a group we are saying to the club that we want to go the extra mile to support the club and say to the players that as a group we want to encourage them on.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

1. I have no problems with who we have commited to, and
2. I have no intentions of backing away from my pledge, and
3. I have no doubts whatsoever about Mr Magic's integrity.
I sincerely hope that this sponsorship will be undertaken in following years, and it would be best for all concerned that the choice of players be as open, fair, and transparent as possible. I think a poll as implemented last year is the best way to go to avoid any arguments arising.
I apologise if my comments have offended anyone. That was not my intention. I'm just concerned about what precedent we're setting here.
Nevertheless, all the contributors are true Saints fans, and I am proud be be among their number, both this year and hopefully many following ones.

ONLY 44 SHARES TO GO ... and heaps of people yet to put their hands up!
Once we reach 170 shares, we can examine whether we go for a third player or not ... correct?

oh, sorry.Mr Magic wrote:Pilgram, each $15 share is towards the Sponsorship of both players. It's not for one or the other.Pilgram wrote:I pledge a share to Clarkey.
So you get two players (maybe 3 if we get enough response) for the price of one.
i pledge a share each then - that's two (2) shares.
and a share to dempo if we decide on another...

18/11 UPDATE
127 Shares pledged
There are still 38 posters who were members of the Sponsorship Group in 2008 (representing 100 shares) who have not yet responded.
So far we have 12 new posters who have pledged shares.
We are looking to get another 43 shares to cover the 2 players we have already confirmed plus another 70 shares for another 'Development Group' player.
