This topic has always been of interest to me (sad I know). You will find that most clubs have not played in the suburb they are named after.

Carlton plays in Parkville/Princes Hill. Not only that, but carlton is in the "Melbourne City Council".

Geelong plays in "South Geelong".

South Melbourne played in "Albert Park".

Footscray is in West Footscray.

The best of all is Richmond. I don't think they have EVER played a game in Richmond or the municipality of Richmond. Punt Rd oval is in the the Melbourne City Council.

And I forgot to add, Carlton do not even have a "Town Hall". Where did they fly there "ill gotten/war time" flags in the old days?

I think you might be wrong there Selhurst Saint...

Optus Oval is in Carlton North, Parkville is across the road (Royal Pde)

You reckon thats sad....How sad am I?

I just had a look at the Melways and the Albert Park Ground is actually in South Melbourne.

The Albert Park Golf Course is listed as being in Melbourne

whilst the park opposite the Golf Course and the lake is Albert Park.

The other end is listed as being part of St. Kilda.....

Now, How sad am I??

I think I better get on with doing some work...

On the basis that the "Baby Poos" play in Carlton North and own 20% of shares in North Melbourne they perhaps should play under that name.

I've got a trivia question....

How many players between 1894 -2004 have actually played league football ?

For more info www.saints.com.au

The above views are those of the author and not necessarily those of the clubs or the AFL.
