Just hope it's NOT us.
Last thing we need is a drug crazed immoral looney with major behavioural problems who hasn't played for two years and is way past his prime.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

agree. lets be logical. cuz is going to be better than our 36th player. he may be awesome. hes 30. fresh body (year off could be a positive not a negative). fit. trains hard. and a super player. no reason why he couldnt play 3 years physically. obviously the issue is mental. maybe give him 1 year then reassess.
If no one is interested and he wants to go to us he would be cheap, we could pick him up at pick 112 in the draft if we wanted
For those that are not interested, learn what footy is, if he gets cleared to play he has passed the test so he is worthy of being a saint
we could get both Cousins and ROk
imagine if we pick cousins up in normal draft and then ROK picks us as his preferred club

if we got cuz and RO"K i would have a party. we would be serious flag contenders if we can keep a full team on the ground.Batnoe wrote:If no one is interested and he wants to go to us he would be cheap, we could pick him up at pick 112 in the draft if we wanted

YEEEEAAAAHHHH!!
The problem the pies have here is Didak and co, and it seems that is what was discussed between the filth and the er, filth....
It's a no-brainer.

Benny has zero drug strikes remember... we will offer him full support and encouragement to manage his addiction (and body), but if he stuffs up in a major way he is simply shown the door....It is believed the Pies' record with players regularly caught up in police action weighed heavily on them, leaving St Kilda the white-hot favourite to get Cousins.
It's a no-brainer.

Hope none of your family or friends have never done anything wrong in their life. looks like there is no second chances with you. I do not agree with recruiting him but it is his age that is the problem for me not what he has done in the past as I trust the club to be able to look after him outside of footy.Enrico_Misso wrote:Just hope it's NOT us.

Collingwood have been a bit quiet regarding Cousins lately, but that's understandable because he hasn't been re-registered by the AFL yet, but if he is permitted to enter the December draft, then I expect Collingwood to announce their interest then, and not before then. It could come down to who has the earlier draft pick between Collingwood and St.Kilda, and because St.Kilda beat Collingwood in the Semi Final, it means that Collingwood will most likely pick him first. If so, then reuniting Cousins with Michael Gardiner would not have been a wise choice anyway.Solar wrote:anyone hear ricky on SEN half an hour ago? I can understand why Nixon would be ticked with Collingwood.
Leaking the information they had a private D following him and now suggesting he's too big a risk leads people to a conclusion that damages his reputation further without a shred of evidence.
Personally I think the AFL & the AFLPA should be investigating Collingwood's actions in this because I reckon it's reprehensible in the circumstances.
Collingwood are well within their rights doing their so-called due-dilligence, but that isn't the issue here. They feel like they're losing the battle so let's tarnish his reputation.
Pity the very same club didn't do it's due dilligence when they backed a known liar by belittling anyone that questioned what was an obvious lie.

And if I can be a little mischievous' here, the news today brings up questions as to Eddie Everywhere's comments on drugs earlier this week.
Were they delierately designed to put them in the position of 'substantiating' their impending decision to not chase signing Cousins?
Or given the comments that Nixon made in his SEN interview, did they realize that once again they were about to miss out on 'landing' a 'big name recruit' and have attempted to
throw some mud
cast some aspertions
damn with innuendo
further tarnish without actually saying so
the already damaged reputation of Cousins so that they could deflect any criticism of their recruiting inability?
Given that they've allowed parts of their PI's report to be selectively released to teh media, maybe the Media should push them harder for details of their PI's report on Didak's 'roadtrip' last year.
Surely they investigated that incident with the same 'due diligence' as Cousins?

I'm glad the Pies have dropped out of the race. I think people have forgotten how good Cousins was....and still should be!
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

It's just occurred to me that as Cousins has apparently never tested positive (zero strikes) that he should still have the same three strikes available to him that every other player has.
It will be interesting to see if the AFL clear him to play & then slap some addition restrictions on him (only one strike).
Personally I'll be wrapt if the Filth have really pulled out (you can never trust those pr1cks). Cousins in the number 9 is an exciting thought.
I'm hoping that he nominates for the ND & we can pick him up with a 5th rnd pick. It would be handy to keep a pick open for the PSD as I reckon they'll be a few decent players delisted that could be very handy for depth.
I was speaking with a Hawthorn trainer last night & we got chatting about Zac Dawson. 6'4, very quick, just lacking a bit of mongrel. Would be solid depth for us if Max, Goose, etc were out or if we needed Chips elsewhere.
My drafting wishlist
#13 Tom Swift/Chris Yarran
#47 Tom Rockliff
#48 Riley Milne
#63 Bart McCulloch
#79 Ben Cousins
PSD Zac Dawson

Add discussing their intent with a Police Commissioner and they are certainly very close to vilifying Ben. Why is Ben’s situation now “All about Collingwoodâ€JeffDunne wrote:I can understand why Nixon would be ticked with Collingwood.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.
Hmm all very interesting.
First thing I thought was "why would Collingwood leak this info?"
Well first there is a Hun Headline in it because it is Collingwood (be ready for the next two Hun headlines - Rocca goes to the Shops and Thomas has a s*** , but I digress).
Secondly it looks like a damage control excercise by Collingwood at the expense of the mental health of a recovering drug addict.
Well done Collingwood. By your actions you show you dont have the best interest of the pewrson at heart at all. Obvious this subterfuge and chinese whispers and leaks and insinuations about Cousins is designed to tarnish him and save face with the filth supporter hoard.
Contrast that with the oft stated position of the Siants thru Lyon. Ad nauseum I have heard Ross talk about Bens health as a priority and then we will see what happens.
Health also means his mental health and his ability to cope with failure and dissapointment and having his name dragged through the mud once again by insinuation.
Obviously as an organisation the Collingwood football club hasn't the maturity at the top level to see the big issue and only worry about how it looks to its supporters.
No wonder Ricky Nixon stated that the club "with its own problems" would not be a good fit for Cousins.
Collingwood has one again dropped the ball when it comes to
1) landing a big fish
2) looking after its supporters
3) showing the integrity of a mature and healthy organisation, and
4) showing it has a disregard for an individuals health and wellbeing when it conflicts with their own position.
So much for Malthouse and his players swinging under the bridge BS a few years back.
Wonder how it sits with him, seeing his club throw mud at Cousins through leaks to papers about PI's and meetings with Police Commissioners
Really the Collingwood Football Club is showing itself as a low rent organisation.
