Delisted Players

Post: # 655618Post BackFromUSA »

Can we create a list of officially delisted players from each club? Ideally there would be no opinions in this thread as to the players ability and whether we should / should not be drafting ... however official stats / previous drfat history for that player should be more than welcome.

Does veteran inside mean that all Harvey's salary fell under the cap?

If this is also the case does that mean he took a pay cut to allow us to select another rookie?

Only half of his salary goes under the cap. I dont think he would have taken a pay cut to let a rookie in as I dont think their salary is under the cap unless they are upgraded.

Veteran = Half Salary goes on the cap.

Inside List = on the list of 38 allowed players.

Outside List = on the list of 6 allowed rookies.

As we have been heavily using the rookie list, it made sense to keep Harvs inside the list.

Harvs would have had the same salary either way.

Jackson and Benjamin must have some serious attitude problems. Benjamin was very highly rated in 2006 and Jackson has played well at AFL level.

It wouldn't surprise me if we picked up Jericho with a late draft pick.

Not that we need another one-paced player with poor disposal, but we do need blokes who can find the footy.

I'll get smashed for suggesting it, but as far as list management goes, we could do worse than have Peverill an emergency, break-glass option if we miss out on Cousins?

11 games last year, only three of which yielded under 20 touches. 33 posessions against Adelaide in Round 20 after 30 the week before. Not bad at all - figures similar to our top guys. Could he help take the pressure off Hayes and Ball?

I'll put it another way:

Ball pulls out of next season's prelim. Who would you pick to replace him? Peverill, Howard, Connors, Geary or McQualter?

I understand the arguments for and against, but a little insurance doesn't hurt. It's just a shame blokes like Fiora have a spot on the list at the moment taking up our 'insurance' quota.

Wasn't Benjamin an U18 NT state captain?

Didn't know Kris Massie got the delist either...top ten pick back in the day.

And what a shame Cain got the flick. Any chance we'd pick him up?

Peverill? Come on mate... Surely u don't seriously think that would be a step in the right direction none of those players would be... we must take a chance on a young recruit, we need our recruiting department to find some quality late round players...

Yeah, Peverill would suck as a recruit. Unless we want slow, unskilled, punchdrunk, dithering hacks - hey, why not get Ackland back too.

The recruiters can't really say there was no one left to recruit once you get to the late rounds and pass on the left over picks because its the batch of players that are left behind that form the basis of the Rookie draft and some Gems come from the Rookies....

I just hope Peake and his staff have done their homework....properly....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Geelong
PREMIERSHIP full-forward Nathan Ablett's time at Geelong is officially over.

The Cats delisted four players on Tuesday, with midfielder Jason Davenport also departing the senior list and Liam Bedford and Chris Kangars the rookie list.

Matthew Moody from Lions has been delisted

Groin injuries.... i am sure there will be players that quit their clubs that are better options than those that cannot get a game as they are not good enough

Dang, when my own fans are turning against me, maybe it's time to back down ;)

Seriously, I think he could have a Stephen Powell type influence if taken. He was slow, couldn't kick and didn't have much going for him...but I'll never forget his first half of the 2004 Preliminary Final - unstoppable.

However, like I posted - our insurance quota is already filled from other clubs (Fiora, Birss, Ray, Attard), so I wouldn't expect to see us move for Peverill, even if he has more runs on the board than all those guys combined.

Shame to hear the Lions' moving on Matthew Moody, he had a bit of talent. Then again, deciding they were going to delist Corrie - and thus accepting Pick 93 - aftr playing 20 games this season was a real surprise.
