well done to the big fella, despite all the rumours i knew he was going no where. His last few games with the Scorpions he really pushed hard and had that look in his eyes that he had a point to prove. Had the chance to speak to him briefly at the after match a couple of times (which he always made an effort to attend) and he speaks very passionately and well.

What did he play? 12-15 games of football for the season (inc. VFL) not bad for a bloke who was written off as never to play again, I have no doubt we will see alot of him next season. In my opinion he was rucking better than King just before his injury early-mid season. His body is fine for another full pre-season and i can't wait to see him next year!

Lulz, source?

So much for the retirement rumour.

Great stuff MG, he was better than King in the first half of the year...

Another year with Mission, can hopefully do wonders for his body.

Need MG to entice Cousins. Can't be for his football.

I'm with you mate on all points. He was in very good form at different stages of the year & I genuinely like the big fella.

Agree with that.

Bet Gardiner said to the club "give me another contract and I'll get you Benny".

Worth it if that's the case.

Good luck to MG, hope he can put in another good pre-season and play as well as he did before his injury this year.

How does that work?

I didn't think Cousins can pick what club he wants to go to :?

He can St Fid ... he can put a price on his head and nominate his preferred club - it's not fullproof, but no club will pick a player if he doesn't want to play with them.

He can tell other clubs he's not interested though.

And the last thing you want in your team is an ex-drug addict who doesn't want to be at your club...

My dream is that next year we make the finals with the Gardiner/King dream team in the ruck.
I think MG is proof in the pudding that mvoing out of Perth and to a new team is enough motivation to keep his nose clean.
Maybe it gives Ben Cousins the same encouragement to come to the Saints.

Just say we have a spare 500k in our cap and Collingwood has a spare 250k in their cap

Benny can say he wants to go to the saints as he wants to be paid 300k

so if the price is too high the other clubs wont touch him... but it might have to be an installment contract of sorts

Does anyone have a source for this news? Is it confirmed? Not on the club website at the mo but the Farren Ray trade and Lyon''s comments about it are.

f*** I hate it when people stress over the source.....

.....Like it matters - I could throw any media institution up there - You still dont know if its right.

Too true. Like the X. Clarke and Pies 11th pick rumours yesterday. Just because someone said it was on SEN, it flew.
If SEN said MG has re-signed it's probably got more currency than the Clarke / Pies rumours.

Surprised that Gardi has re-signed but the club must have faith in him to keep him on whilst they're talking about de-listing enough players to take 6 in the draft.

Do we know for how many years the 3 of them got? I imagine Gardi was 1, and have heard Milney is 1 but can someone clarify? And what about Eddy?

Also confirmed on the St Kilda's web site...

St Kilda trio extend contracts

http://saints.com.au/tabid/5315/Default ... wsid=68903

even though the end of the article is incorrect ...

The signings come as a big boost in a trade period which has also seen the club secure the services of Farren Ray and a round-three pick (No. 48) in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft in exchange for the Saints' first-round pick.

You would think they should have got that right

Thats good to hear... is a very good backup ruckman for king , and if he can stay injury free , should have alot more impact come finals...

Seems like madness to me.

Is the timing of the announcement an indication that we were in the market for another ruckman but couldn't land one?
