COngratulations to Raph, however Im sure this award gave the Club some concern, as none of our younger players show consistant promise throughout the season.

Jones, Attard, Raph, Armo. Mini and Allen were all dropped for form at some point and most finished the season with the Scorps

Raphs good form in losing sides in the finals probably edged him over the line

I was lucky enough to win the bid for Sam Fisher's jumper and he was great enough to personalise it a bit for me after he won his medal. I can't wait to frame it with the picture of us.

We done Sammy!
Nice, if you don't mind my asking how much was your winning bid?

I paid $1050 for it. Lucky in the end I thought.

Not bad.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my report: Robert Harvey's final match jumper was sold for $21,000

the brownlow showed it and now the b and f when at the end of the home and away season we were going nuts and orgasming about how good his second half of the year was
first half was average as roo had knee problems.

Can anyone outline the voting procedures?

From memory every player on the day gets votes from X number of people (match committee?)? Am I in the ball park there?

Each player ranked out of ten by five people. Pretty close.

Great pics by the way.

correct- so no play no vote- most possible 50

at the end of rd 22 there were only 6 points between Roo, Lenny and Sam
Nick didn't poll in top ten ( all that was shown and read out-) for first final- Sam got 40,
Sam then polled in both of the last two finals as did Lenny and Nick But Sam was within the top 3 each game.

Thanks for that.

That's a good way to reward a combination of consistency and excellence. Are all clubs similar in doing that or are some of them more elite (e.g. 10 to 1 for the best 10 players etc.)

any team where the votes are up into the 100's for the winner would have to be on the same sort of system
I get the impression it's sort of up to the coaching staff / football department as to how they wish to rank/ rate the players

The Saints also seem to be one of the clubs with fewer rather than more awards players can get-
this year there was only the Barker medal, the Most promising and the new- Most Professional

last year there were only two from memory- again a youngster and the Barker-

some clubs have so many that just about every player could get one- heard that a young blue managed two awards- one of which got him a TAG watch

EDIT - just read this from the casey B&F report...

"Birss and Rix are both out of contract and waiting for this week's AFL trading period to see what 2009 holds."

Must be Rix...

in the GT era, i think they only had the main B&F award.

Can someone remind me of the name of the so called comedian. He was a complete embaressment and Kosi would have had every right to nut him.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Glad JK23 and I were at the loo- or he may have been decked.

His name was Bryce something or someone Bryce, can't remember. Didn't really listen to him so don't know what he said, the opening was slow and it went down hill rapidly.

Great night though, we ended up at a couple of bars in Crown (no idea which ones) following Luke Ball and his lady friend up the stairs (quite a view, lucky bugger).

Great night, but paid a price on Sunday.......... :?

I would've thought Gehrig would be within his rights, with that poor joke about Robert Harvey shouldn't decide to make a comeback two months from now.

Speaking of which, I didn't see the big G, was he there?

When I made my booking for the B&F I asked if G was going to attend and the club said no as he was overseas...
