thats great for Sam Fisher, rack up another success story for John Beveridge picking him out of the draft in the 40's. From his efforts in the finals he may even me a handy forward - he seems to kick pretty straight.
BUT (and isn't there always a but!) nobody could suggest that we would have even made the finals without the herculean efforts of the guy who wears no.12, particularly but not exclusively in the second half of the season. Can the same be said of Fisher? Maybe, maybe not. 4 best and fairest underlines his brilliance, and its good to see them share it around a bit but I thought this year was easily his best year and considering how down some of our better players were (some through injury others not) it seems a bit of a strange one.
I suppose its not the "most valuable", if it was it wouldn't even be worth counting!

did we over-rate rooey's second half of the year??? or was his first half of the season that average???
the brownlow showed it and now the b and f when at the end of the home and away season we were going nuts and orgasming about how good his second half of the year was

"It's a work in progress," Lyon said.

Chips had an excellent year, all year, if we are ever to win everything there needs to be a few more up there IMO.

Very true, no-one questions that fact that Roo has very broad shoulders, but it's great to see other people step up and completely understand and fufill their role for the club....well done!Saints Premiers 2008 wrote:thats my point though (actually my previous post was about it)maverick wrote:Why is it so much about Roo.Saints Premiers 2008 wrote:did we over-rate rooey's second half of the year??? or was his first half of the season that average???

the best and fairest is not a fact, its an opinion. True its an eductaed opinion since the match committee know what is expected of the players so they judge them against that. They produced a result that is popular, but in the end somewhat unjust in my opinion. Nick R is streets ahead of the rest of the players in talent, application, willingness to work hard, willingness to promote the club, willingness to put his body on the line, willingness to take responsibility for what happens on the field and off.(Robert Harvey excluded)
Does Sam Fisher "completely understand and fufill (his) role for the club" simply because he wins the best and fairest???
I'm only puttig it out there, but is there any chance Nick R was up for a big bonus if he won the B&F? Its wouldnt be the first time such events have transpired. Talk about tanking!!!
