Would Steele Sidebottom be a good pick for us?
On the Draft list he is listed as a Medium Defender, but this article
http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/ ... wsId=68346
says:
"Sidebottom, 17, was easily the best player on the ground with his 10-goal, 32-possession performance a major factor in the 21.16 (142) to 9.7 (61) win under the roof at Telstra Dome.
The 182cm AFL player-in-waiting spent the majority of his time up forward with stints on the ball and looked equally at ease when kicking on either his natural right or his left foot."
Sounds a bit like Hawthorn's Campbell Brown to me.
Impressive stats for that game.

i don't know much about the kid, or how/who rates him but Amon Buchanan (Sydney) kicked 10 goals in the TAC Cup GF a few years ago and didn't get drafted until pick 52 (i think).
just because he's kicked a bag in a big game, i'm not sure how much it will change recruiters opinions
one game doesn't make you a gun - but it certainly wouldn't have done him any harm!

Good to see his manager is out there in the forums pumping him up!Art Vandelay wrote:One guy has compared him to Buddy Franklin.
Though I could be wrong - it could be his mum or dad too.

I think you have your Sheehans mixed up. Kevin Sheehan is the talent manager for the AFL. He knows pretty much every junior of note in the country. He also knows the recruiters at every single AFL club. If he says steele Sidebottom is a top ten pick, then it's a pretty good bet that's where he's going.Moccha wrote:Really, what does Sheahan know?

He wasn't in Sheehan's top ten during the half time interval for that match, but he did state after the match that his performance would have moved him up to the top ten.vacuous space wrote:I think you have your Sheehans mixed up. Which is pretty obvious ...
34 possessions, 11 inside 50s, 10 goals 3 behinds and has a good grab...
a natural right footer, but is equally as good with his left foot and kicked at least 6 of his goals on his left foot.
Plays in the midfield and rests in the forward 50...
IMO a dead cert top 10
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

St Kilda has had talks with Steele Sidebottom.

I think you will find that almost every guy at Draft Camp will be interviewed by at least 8 clubs. The top 20-30 will probably be interviewed by all clubs.
Leigh Montagna, as an example was interviewed by 8-10 clubs when he went to Draft Camp and he went ?37 (I think)
WA clubs would have already interviewed WA kids prior to Draft Camp. Same for SA kids by SA clubs. Those with managers would also have been shopped around !!
