Hysteria?.... Where?Richter wrote:Good grief.... the hysteria...... it's a story about a wayward footballer possibly in some post-season trouble.
Most of us read it, it got taken down......... big deal...... Paris 1968 this ain't.
I was surprised the thread wasn't at least locked earlier, couldn't give a F***.
My issue is the Club.... and it is a club isn't it? Not a political party or a corporation?... we've been lied to so much over recent years, time for a fresh and novel approach maybe.... honesty and transparency!
Call me a radical.
In hand?.... my balls.

A South African friend of mine at the weekend told me that inflation in Zimbabwe is over 11 million% p.a. I grew up in a Europe where the veil of the iron curtain ripped families apart. So we do not have the freedom to protest, strike, or give opinions in a public FORUM.....so we cannot vote freely, we cannot write into newspapers, give editorials, read what we want, and have a say on the way the country is governed..
Did not know we were living in Zimbabwe, or in a communist country....thanks for the heads up plugger, I will be very guarded with what i say from now on.....
Yep, the club ASKING for the good ship SS to take down a thread about a soon-to-be-past it ruckman....... similarities......? Non.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

Not my choice of words obviously... but I think you'd call that poetic license rather than hysteria.Richter wrote:markp wrote:Hysteria?.... It's somewhere in-between Zimbabwe and a storm in a tea-cup (IMO).
I am behind this decision
at the time it was making a bigger wave then it should have. Then it headed down dangerous ways re: drugs. If it's true, the ruckman wont be with us in a couple of weeks time, if wasn't then why give the media a chance to pounce.

The club's senior-most media advisor requested we do it. We care about the club, which is why we took it down.RedWhiteBlack wrote:Good decision IMO. What's the point of it?
But on the other hand... I must admit I am having a laugh at the clowns who were bitching and moaning about how Saint Central was "censored" when Saintsational is now doing it (for the right reasons, but amusing nonetheless )
There's a difference between monitoring and censoring.
Saintscentral, AFAIAC, is a place for the sheep to bah-bah their love of the club.
This, I hope, is a hub of discussion for the betterment of the club, not mindless adoratian.
I support the move to take it down, but equally, the club seldom makes such requests, so you have to take it seriously when they do and make a call accordingly.
You should read those threads a little more closely...Saints43 wrote:I reckon it's interesting that someone from the club reads this forum closely enough to see a potential PR incident and contact a moderator the same day but 27 pages over several months of angst and speculation regarding our training facilities goes uncommented on.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Betterment of the club....in who's opinion....the clubs.....so they tell us what to think everton?????
I will make my own mind up, thanks???
WRT what I read, ignore, respond to.....
If it was of NO interest, no-one would have posted or replied to it, fact was it may have happened and the club wants it kept as inhouse as possible..
The similarity not the scale, I was referring to......Zimbabwe is a dictatorship, where people can NOT have an opinion....at saintsational, opinions are like ars*holes, everyone has them....and is allowed to air them...well...

For the record, I have never been a fan of the Mods. Individually there are some good people there, and they know who they are, but generally I have been at odds with most of the moderators here. Not being one to keep quiet when something occurs that I don't agree with, they will testify that I have fired a few public broadsides in their direction, especially where censorship is concerned.BigMart wrote:Betterment of the club....in who's opinion....the clubs.....so they tell us what to think everton?????

In this instance I think that the action taken by 66 and endorsed by Ev above, is correct.
Whoever witnessed the incident referred to would have no knowledge of the possible circumstances and tensions that the particular person was under at the time. I would suggest that the club would have far better knowledge, as well as the possible consequences of that incident becoming public. We all support the Saints here, and if the club advises us that it is better for the individual and the club that the matter be handled in camera, we should respect that.
We may well find out in due course what those circumstances were, or surmise based on subsequently advised decisions, but we should bear in mind that players are also human beings, and entitled to certain privacies.
I have no problem with incidents like this being reported on this forum, but we should also respect the club's decision to request the thread's deletion.
The club is not seeking to silence our dissent totally, just on this one thread. Let's accept it and move on. Comparisons to China, Zimbabwe et al are just a little over the top IMHO.

No mate.BigMart wrote:Betterment of the club....in who's opinion....the clubs.....so they tell us what to think everton?????
What I meant was this:
Saintsational is a place for debate, praise and criticism where it is warranted (yes, I know that's highly subjective). Saintscentral is just a place for the ZOMG RIXXY'S SO HOT types to praise anything and everything about the club.
I know what you're saying mate and a big part of me agrees with your sentiment, but I'm not sure what good can come from such a discussion at the moment, given the sensitive nature of what's alledgedly involved. The similarity not the scale, I was referring to......Zimbabwe is a dictatorship, where people can NOT have an opinion....at saintsational, opinions are like ars*holes, everyone has them....and is allowed to air them...well...
I'm sure there will come a time and place for it to be discussed on here - when we know the facts.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

That's just nuts Cowboy.cowboy18 wrote:The hotel incident... nasty stuff.matrixcutter wrote:i have no idea about the incident...have not heard a sausage.
Mini-bar violation on the recent trip to Perth, many cashews taken against team rules. No names at the request of the club.
Don't let me cashew at that again.
Fair enough, it would not want to happen regularly IMO....that is, the club asking for threads to be deleted....
I would understand, if it was inflamitory and complete bullsh*t....not sure about this though....makes you wonder, has there been no headlines, or just hidden ones...
I remember telling info about a very accurate account of an incident involving Heath Black when he was a saint.....it questioned his moral fibre.....and was shot down....turned out that he has little......and the story was relevent...
I am playing devils advocate....but I like it said how it was...and how it is..

Agreed. And we won't let it happen if they go OTT. But they haven't so far and they appreciate our honesty on a lot of matters.BigMart wrote:Fair enough, it would not want to happen regularly IMO....that is, the club asking for threads to be deleted....

dead right i don't agree or like the ones who run to the media when things happen to me it sounds like they maybe exaggerating things to get their mug on tv , keep it in house deal with it properly and all will be well .howlinwolf wrote:The originally poster should have contacted the club with their report and concerns. Not posted on here for a media frenzy to build it up out of all proportions.
If the club was foremost that's what would have been done.
Glad the thread has been locked.
Just my .02 cents worth
i had heard a story of an incident after a pre lim lose [ not naming club ] that person told the club they apologized and paid for dry cleaning of the article it never went to the media at all and that was the right way if you ask me
