AGM lets speak our minds then!

Post: # 655886Post thejiggingsaint »

Like everyone else, I was gutted at the way our season ended (NOT the result so much as the performance! ) I have great concerns about the way the club is going about its business. The right and proper way to express criticism is through the process of the AGM and to make any points in a courteous and measured way. Thats not to say that passion should be checked in at the lobby!!!
I have concerns about where we are headed as a club and will make these known at the AGM. No demands for a board spill, or the coach to be sacked but simply QUESTIONS to be answered.

To be honest, the AGM is about people who run the club, it's more about the board than the football department, and I'd rather leave the on-field stuff to the experts on this occasion. And we just had a board shake-up, so maybe some clean air is warranted.

love the enthusiasm as always but i struggle with you saying that you weren't gutted with our season ending without a premiership cup but it was the performance in which in it ended???

so what you are saying is that you are fine if we loose as long as we play well? (or to a standard one sets as a supporter)

the issue with the hawks game was that we didnt come to play, if we had lost in a thriller, being beaten by the better team, then it would be a completely different situation

it might make you feel better if we played well however im my eyes we still would have lost

the thriller could have made it worse - ie against the power...

I should be there and will deliver a fair dinkum spray.

The members continually kept in the dark, then we are led down dead end streets by visionless nuffies.

I await the day when a man of vision takes the reigns of this football club and leads it back to it's rightful home, from where it should never have left in the first place.

the hawthorn game showed us exactly where we are if we had played out of our skins and got beaten in a thriller it wouldnt be a true indication of where we are as a team . the glaring thing that come out of this year to me is that for us to be sucessful we need some one to play above and beyond thier abillitys if you look at Geelong (even though they lost they still are the benckmark of the year ) every week they got the same out put from all their players when they played a standard game they won when they played a good game they belted teams .. they didnt play bad (exception of the g/f) when we played an average game we lost or norrowly won when we playe a good game we won and when we played poorly we got belted

Explain that one to Hawthorn fans. The Hawks played out of their skins and won a Grand Final. Do they care that it's not a true indication of where they are as a team? Also you can't play beyond your ability. That defies logic. You can only play to a level that your ability allows. St.Kilda played to their potential and finished 4th. That was a good effort. If they want to go further then they need a few more good midfielders, another good forward, another good backman and another good ruckman. With the list they have, I reckon they probably over achieved this year.

The way I see 2008 season, Cats, Hawks, and Bulldogs were a street in front of any other team. Nobody stood out as 4th spot. We did marvelously well at the finish of the season to finish where we did. However now I wish we had finished 7th or 8th with the draft in mind. Still, credit where it is due. Saints did well in 2008, much better than er looked like doing at about round 18/19.

I must be missing something but in my eye, the club has done plenty to improve our situation in recent times. New coaches, new board, new fitness people and working hard towards new facilities. I think we are lacking personel, a legecy of past recruiting.

This season we have gone from 9th to a Prelimin. Don't get me wrong, of course to go one step further would have been awesome. But realistiacally we are down a few players. Our injury situation has improved dramatically. They did tell us it would take a few years for our injuries to settle down.

IMO I think we should replace Barker and possibly Rock and make some tought decisions with recruiting, no time for sentiment.
