3 Prelims this decade...

Post: # 655001Post Sainternist »

And we bow out to the team that ultimately wins the flag.

Funny (not "ha ha" funny) statistic that one :?

Will the football gods ever lets us have our day? :(

3 times in the last 5 years we've lost to the eventual premiers in the Prelim.

Although this year we were a long way behind both Grand Finalists, and would have beaten neither in the Prelim.

Still, we might have been a tad unlucky ...

The fact that the teams that beat us in the prelim in 04 and 05 went on to win the flag was the main reason i went for the Hawks to win today....

The Hawks are much better at rebuilding a list than we are....It only took them about 4 years.....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Yep, we were officially crap and ruined our own list (Thanks to Watson and Blight).

Hawthorn (and now West Coast) weren't too bad, but sacrificed performances for the sake of the future (call it tanking, or call it player development).

Carlton were also officially crap, but perhaps hung onto their crapness for a year too long, just to get Kreuzer and Judd.

6 points.

Brent Guerra, who starred in defense today for the Hawks, could have levelled the game in the dying seconds :(

Bloody Wankerneen! Did absolutely nothing for 3 quarters and decides to get a late pass in the final quarter.
Just our luck

I reckon you may be right......we have been not hard enough when it really mattered...bloody close against Port, faded against Sydney, and soft as Dal vs the Hawks.

Should never have been let go in the first place!

Clarkson found the right position for him in the end.

Pity the powers that be down at Moorabbin didn't throw him around and suddenly realise "hey this boy will give us drive because his left foot is pin point in delivering the pill. This might even set us up for some forward thrusts!"

Guess they missed that one!

Shoulda, coulda, woulda . . .

Bottom line is we haven't been the best team in any season this decade.

Our H&A and finals records clearly show this.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people spend so much time reflecting on why.
