Barry Hall

Post: # 650933Post boneless23 »

Before you all shoot me down, I think we should look at Barry Hall.

The word is that his time at Sydney is over and he wants to come back to Melbourne.

The Bulldogs are very keen on him and are talking to his managment and I think we should at least make some inquiries.

He already has a relationship with Ross Lyon and the majority of the guys he became 'stale' with are no longer at the club.

Our forward line needs a serious look at and Hall might give us 2 years as a power foward and an excellent back up for Roo before guys like Jarred Allen can build up his body enough to become effective.

Anyone have any constructive thoughts on this?

Of course it is a serious thread.

As I said, the Bulldogs are already talking to him, why shouldn't we at least look into it.

Our forward line just isn't fucntioning correctly at present and a short time fix like Hall could allow time for Jarred Allen to come on. He looked great at the end of the year and a two year change of scenery could do him (and us) good.

Trent Croad for example got traded and came back and has good success back at his old club. Croad had far more baggage at Hawthorn than Hall had at St Kilda and they seemed to welcome him back with success.

Croad came back as a 23 year old.

Barry Hall is 31/32.

No Thanks!!

Why not?

Would demand too much money and we couldnt fit him in unless we trade a big money earner

no, no and no. Topping up with a guy who is past his best and has two, maybe three years left will do nothing for our long term development and do nothing to address our weakness in mid-field.

We would be far better off looking for a younger forward than going after Hall. The recruiters at the Saints should go all out to lure a Lonergan or Hawkins away from Geelong. Lets face it, one of them is bound to miss out on a regular game with the pussies...

Lonegan is not a key forward....he is a backman that only kicks goals because the delivery is so good.

Geelong wouldnt give up Hawkins.

There aren't alot of available key forwards out there and we could really get two great years out of Hall.

Big Bad Bazza, is past his prime.
hes only got a few years left in him at the most.
best off to look for young gun fowards.

It'd be like your hot young wife running off with all your money, then years down the track wanting to come back when she's clapped out and broke... No.

How many teams have recruited old stars with the hope that they may get them over the and win a premiership.

Many have tried and to date none have succeeded, recruiting Barry Hall would be a waste of time, waste of money and a waste of whatever we trade for him.

Even pick 90 would be better.

Barry burnt his bridges big time.

The door was closed and, IMO, should never be re-opened for such for a mindless thug like Hall.

He is possibly the worst case of persona non-grata former players of St.Kilda FC.

Thanks, but NO THANKS.
