Niece's wedding tomorrow night: what do I do?
Advice needed
My niece is getting married tomorrow at 3 pm...no consultation with me I might say. She is a wonderful lady who I have had the honour of being her uncle now for 30 years, since she was 3 years old.
The reception is at 7 pm tomorrow night.
I have informed all concerned that there is a more important event tomorrow.
They consider this to be unreasonable.
Should I seek a divorce from my family?
Advice please as I living in Canberra and this might involve a fight for the available TV with some very large thugby fans.
Do I put the Saints above family??
Best regards
Peter

I am going to go totally wired. If I have to shout in the middle of the service when the Sainst score or blaspheme when the Dawks score, so be it.
If the Fycker she is marrying turns out to be a Dawks or Cats supporter, or even suspected of such, I can object to the wedding.
Anything to get to a TV set.
Regards

Truth be told - I am facing the same problem - next week is our 10th wedding anniversary on the Friday night - we should be in New Zealand - we wont be and it is costing me 10 diamonds (30 points each) to avoid any troubles.
i'd be getting a really bad migraine right about 6.30......either that or jut not turn up....the bride won't give a rats ...and neither she should...it's her day ..not yours...
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Fortunately for me, Mrs Bakesfan (a former Blues supporter) and the junior BakesFans (both brainwashed since birth) know that they come second to anything involving the St.K.F.C..... well, maybe equal.

PFTXC......I have just checked my book on.....Families and Football....now, you might have a legitimate out here....rule 15....paragraph 3, noted that--if your niece is your Brother or Sister's daughter, you have an obligation to go to the wedding....however, if she is the daughter of your Wifes Brother or Sister....you may go to the football..only if you pay the penalty of a slab of crownies to the 40 something Saints supporter, sitting in the Ponsford stand wearing the Saints jumper with the number 32 on his back....hope to see you...

Precisely! I also wish I could do that. But it's pretty hard when you're ON THE Great SOUTHERN STAND ON LEVEL TWO SCREAMING YOUR HEAD OFF!!!!!saintsrus wrote:I wish I was in your position.
Wait till the game is over to check to scores if we win or loose there is no angst to be had
...of course you should go to the wedding. Just take a small radio and sneak out occasionally

While not quite as significant a game, both my older brother and sister were married mid-season (June) back in the mid 70's - already highly annoyed at missing the games the Saints were playing then - I took along a radio with earplugs so that both myself and my cousin could listen to the game without disturbing anyone.
As it happened one of those games was at Princes Park against the Hawks - the day our rover Paul Callery got flattened and nearly swallowed his tongue. We were well down at that stage - and we rallied, big time - came back and stormed to the lead - at which point both me and my cousin sitting in the church whilst a wedding was happening - yelled out YESSSS!!
We were in the bad books for awhile (as usual) - but who cares. So, that is the answer - take your radio and listen in.

I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.
