Let's all get behind the great man and support him and his mates to get up.
You are in fact so correct I think you're lost in your own irony.
It really is about one magnificent career and these blokes representing our money will get up and show him what we are all about.
A prelim performance against a fancy-pants arrogant mob beckons.
We will smash them both, and then we will face the Cats. And don't think for one minute P66 that every Saint who runs on that ground won't be thinking of #35.
Let's go and smash the Pies tomorrow night and be united.
GO YOU MIGHTY SAINTERS, WE ARE 100% BEHIND YOU.
Hahaha while I was typing my reply I loved the other replies.
Don't worry P66 there really is a side called Harvey.
It has more supporters than you would realise.
And that side "Harvey" makes up the heart and soul of a side called St Kilda.
Look up St Kilda P66, it's a side that makes up part of the AFL.
You really do struggle.

Re: IF...
They will not be caring one bit about Harvs. They will want to win for themselves and the club. Unlike supporters they dont worship other players. Respect them yes but in the end it is about themselves and the side. If you doubt that you have never met players.Iceman234 wrote:Spot on P66.plugger66 wrote:Yep its all about individuals. You always covertly purport that you have some sort of inside info, but that statement there says more than anything that you have NO IDEA.
Burnt badly, if you think players don't think of milestones especially ones like this. I've known blokes (VFL/AFL players) who have been down for a long time because they put in a shocker for a players' milestone game.
For you to call me on that shows me that you are really a nobody with no clue.
You honestly believe that these blokes don't have their hearts set on making this a flag for Harves and they only have their best interests ( and the club) at heart?
You struggle more than I thought.
Re: IF...
And how many weeks can that last . One maybe two. The players are over that now thank goodness. Only supporters think like you. Lets face it you are a supporter and players are not. They all play for themselves and the team. They can get up onc in a blue moon for a milestone but not for the last few weeks of a season. I forgive you for thinking this way as you are probably only abot 18 years old.Iceman234 wrote:And you clearly have never met players.plugger66 wrote:They will not be caring one bit about Harvs. They will want to win for themselves and the club. LOL LMFAO makes you out to be a real clown those comments referring to age. OMG how dare you.plugger66 wrote:

You would have to classify as being the biggest dill on this site. But don't just ask me, put it to the masses...
Don't forgive me for showing you up for being the goose you are P66 and revealing your weaknesses, really there is no apology necessary.
Thank me at your convenience though when you eventually realise it.
If for one second you have ever known an AFL/VFL player who has not gone out of their way, especially for an absolute icon of the game, to produce their absolute best in big games - and you believe they play for themselves and their team only - please let me know. bahahahahahaha.

Lyon did say before Harvs last home game that he wanted the focus to be on the game plan and not Harvs. Even so I can't believe that 35 at the very end of his career wont add an ounce of mettle and inspiration to the boys.
Re: IF...
Of course RL would say that.st.byron wrote:Iceman234 wrote:And you clearly have never met players.plugger66 wrote:They will not be caring one bit about Harvs. They will want to win for themselves and the club. But if you've ever had anything to do with team sport, anything to do with VFL/AFL players, anything to do with elite players - then you'd know that these blokes, our players, ARE thinking every second of every minute of every hour of every day of Robert Harvey. No doubt they want to win for the team but Flogger66's first input was something to do with "for the individual."
FFS for Flogger66 to purport to have anything to do with any footballer at any level (except for the fact he umpires Under 14's FFS ) and then call me out on it, is laughable. I will back it in I've dealt with more FOOTBALLERS than he has umpired.
I was an ordinary footballer, but was president of a team for a few years, and know from both sides how much blokes will put themselves out for their mates when it really matters.
I reckon this week is when our Saints blokes will stand up, they'll put their bodies on the line and they will play their hearts out.
And when we win, every one of them will look the great #35 in the eye.
Of that I have no doubt.
And of course P66 will come on here, call me an 18 year old (you f.w.) and make excuses for why we won.
GO YOU MIGHTY SAINTERS!

I think the main conflict between you 2 guys is just a confusion over a rather technical point- which has led to the usual overly-defensive responses to the initial overly aggressive reply.
P66 (sounds like a pretty crappy seat on the 3rd level of the MCG)
was making a more "normative," statement (expressing how things should or ought to be). That the players shouldn't be relying on any perceived emotional high to get them over the line, but should be looking for a level of commitment/intensity.
I don't recall P66 ever suggested that a retirement/mile-stone does not have an affect on the team (a positive statement) . Which seems to be the basis of most of your responses.
FWIW, I think GT got it right on this issue.

I'd agree with you except for Flogger66's previous negativity.benengel14 wrote:I think the main conflict between you 2 guys is just a confusion over a rather technical point- which has led to the usual overly-defensive responses to the initial overly aggressive reply.

It is clear he doesn't support the same team I do. He made his first comment in a way which follows his previous "contributions" to other threads.
FWIW I think every one of those players representing the Saints will be thinking every minute, and finding it hard to sleep, about the fact they are playing with and for the great Robert Harvey.
Have you ever played in a big game for anyone?
It's bloody awesome and fantastic. Even playing lower leagues and playing in a game where a bloke kicks his 100th for the season is great.
Do you think these guys lose that because they're playing for money or a club?
bulls***!!! They are playing not just for the club, not just for themsleves, THEY ARE PLAYING FOR THE BEST FLOWERING PLAYER THAT EVER PLAYED.
And if you can't see that, then you can't see.
I really don't care, I will be there supporting my Saints, don't give a toss what Flogger66's doing.
But no doubt he is a pest on here and that definitely supports his previous posts that he is an umpire.
Which pretty much supports he was picked on at school, and we all know why.....

With this tools prior history I think it's reasonable to assume it was meant to be slightly controversial.
Was made more so when I tried to reinforce it as a positive...
Poor ol F66 then made it clear that.... yadayadayada....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hehe (another slight misunderstanding) positive in the sense that it was not normative.
i.e.what something IS (Not what it should be), and without indication of approval or disapproval.
P66 and I both agree that Harvey will definitely have an effect.
But we would seemingly agree that the motivation 'to do it for Harves' as opposed to success for the club, or themselves is unlikely to last for 6 consecutive weeks, or 4 consecutive quarters.
Despite those beliefs, I don't think you could legitimately claim that you would like to see success for St Kilda and Harvey any more so than P66 and I would.
But as you've mentioned, there's a pretty low chance that any of us truly knows what goes through their heads.

Why do so many get enraptured by someone who ain't even a member? Plugger 66? Lord help us. Refer back to an exchange some months back where I exposed the non-member as naught more than a Mac High front runner. Why do so many buy in? The coot's a distraction, little more. He's a mid - late 40's hack with little future prospect.

I like your positivity Benengel14 but unfortunately Flogger66 doesn't always share it. I do. But he/she doesn't share it.benengel14 wrote:Hehe positive in the sense that it was not normative.

I dare not claim that I want success more than you because it is an Internet forum FFS. You could be Harves and I could be Eddie Mc Everywhere for all we know.
But I'm not - I am Saints through and through. I wear my membership on my sleeve. On my arrival back in Australia yesterday morning I get jacked up by a Hawk supporter while collecting my cases (because my son was wearing a saints cap) that we are the worst top four side in history. Had to pleasantly remind him of the Round 16 debacle and that if we're the worst top 4 side then they are surely the worst top 2 side....
Couldn't see Flogger66 doing that..... can see him hiding behind his whistle and trying to tell off kids, you see he is never a positive Saint supporter, just a junior umpire.
And that's all he'll ever be.
And Go you mighty SAINTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, but sometimes he just goes beyond. The OtherThommo wrote:Why do so many get enraptured by someone who ain't even a member? Plugger 66? Lord help us. Anyone who has ever PLAYED (not umpired juniors Flogger66) or managed (not umpired juniors Flogger66) should get annoyed at his posts.
He is a troll of the highest order, who NEVER posts anything positive.
Had a gutfull of his crap.
We are nearly there and we don't need this pathetic nerds s***.
