Well they obviously see things differently.

You think that there is little output, but do you actually know what these players are instructed to do and if they're performing to those instructions?

I certainly don't.
Doesn't stop me from complaining about individual acts freom players during a game, but to seriously suggest that I would know better than the coaches/selection panel on who should/shouldn't play is laughable.
If they're instructed to not do much then Lyon is a genius and he's got it exactly right with them
Yopu're obviously not seeing what they are seeing with regards to these players.
Out of curiosity, have you seen many games live?
Enough to know Eddy should be out this week
I only asked to see if you were baising your assesment on tv or from watching live.

But given that you're confident you know better, why not call the Club and offer your expertise?

Play midfield does that make a difference? Should have never been selected in the first place missed about 12 tackles on the weekend he wasn't alone but has never delivered. Hopefully other teams overrate him like our supporters so we can offer him as trade bait
racist.

That is a crap comment Joffa. A really stupid thing to say.
not its not.

Look at the players who are constantly bagged insulted abused and subjected to the most hateful vitriol
.
Raph
X
Jimmy.

I am sick of this vieled racism and will call it as I see it.
Didn't realize that C Gardiner, Fiora, Kosi and Dal were indegenous

Seriously, why open a can of worms.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

mad saint guy wrote:I have no doubt that Xavier has talent, but he just can't get himself fit. He's now damaged goods so we probably wouldn't get much for him on the trade table, but if we could swap him for a top 20 pick I'd jump at it. He's had 7 pre seasons to get his bpdy right and now he's probably in worse shape than when he was drafted.

Raph on the other hand finally has his body and attitude right. He's got a big strong frame and is now able to confidently break tackles and lay big bumps. He looks well on the way to cementing his spot in the side as an attacking half back/midfielder.
I'm of the opposite view - X Clarke has shown considerably more in his time at the club and is potentially one of our most damaging players. After a huge layoff, I wasn't expecting much of him against Geelong and wasn't surprised he didn't fire. But once he's fit and ready, he makes us look a 2-3 goal better team.

Raph on the other hand I find a turnover merchant - not necesarily in direct clangers - but in poor kicks to position, putting teammates under pressure, failure to move the ball quickly, frequently getting tackled, inability to contest defensively, easily outmanoeuvred at body-on-body marking contests.

It's my view that X is our best, full-strength 22. Raph is not. He's not in the top 30. He has shown something - I definitely agree on that point - in the past few weeks but I still feel he has some fatal flaws against quality sides.

In the words of Shaun Micallef, I am not a racist. I would absolutely love it if Raph could fufill his junior potential, but I just don't think he will. Likewise for Gwilt, who I would love to see star at this level. I just don't think he's got what it takes, unfortunately. Too slow and laconic - and doesn't have a true position.

X on the other hand has plenty to give. I am confident he will deliver soon; he shouldn't have been dropped for this week.

I can fix X....

Come down to my place over summer, where i'll feed him 8 meals a day and we do squats and deadlifts at the gym every other day...

He'll return next season 8-10 kilo's heavier with the body to stand upto AFL rigors.... At the moment, he is just too slight and with his natural aggression at the ball, will get injured more often than not... For a younge man of 24/25, it is not good enough that he hasnt physically developed..

On the other hand, his bro has put on some seirous size and will fill out to be quite a unit... Will be a handy player come next season going forward, as he has been in the past month IMO... May well become more than handy... I have high hopes for Raph.... But serious concerns about X..

It was the wrong move to play him last week, but seeing as it was pencilled in as a loss, it was worth the risk.... Armo should be better value this week...

As mentioned earlier, I hope Armo gets given a fair amount of game time in offensive possies... Ive got high hopes for this kid too...

Has anyone thought that perhaps after a 6 day break, X just couldn't get up for this game given he missed a heck of a lot of footy this year. No point in playing an outside runner if he can't run hard all game.

suprisingly there is a game to be played and a team has been selected.

Not sure what plugger66 has been smoking but seems convinced that bally will miss.... which must mean he will be a certain starter. Lyon was on record in saying that they would not select him if he wasn't right.

The suprise, nice suprise, was gardiner getting the cut. By the looks of it this will mean gwilt and BJ will spend time forward. Lyon has thrown two inside midfielders into the mix at the expense of these two utilities. No excuses on not winning the hard ball.

Raph is able to drift back to do a job, hopefully will be able to generate some run. I would like to see us man up their loose man in defence. Fianls football usually involves lots of wuick kicks forward to get distance and thus a clogged forward line is not a total negative. Might actually allow kosi to get into it through his pack marking.

This game will answer alot of questions about where this squad and the coach is at.

Cant see how, they have beaten most of the so called contenders by good margins this year. The cats are in a place where they do not beleive they can be beaten. We were not terrible in the opening quarter and a half IMO, they were just better.

Maybe this year?

Congratulating yourself is just another sign of your overinflated opinion of your own worth.

Notwithstanding people expressing their opinions on this forum, very few consider themselves to have a better idea of what's going on than those employed by the Club to do so.

we need to SMASH em in the midfield... on paper we look way better.. but that comes to nothing of course

but they have so many strong ball getters/goal kickers type players
Annoying Pies players who i think will be a massive headache..
Davis, Swan, Medhurst, Pendlebury, Thomas

You have picked 5 of the 6 dangers in one. Burns is the biggest danger. Stop 3 and we win. Sounds simple but they are the best coached side in the AFL considering the players they work with.
