So this rumour has us giving up Dal Santo and pick 12 for Kerr.
The fact that Kerr and Cousins keep coming up in discussions points to the fact that we need midfielders. So whoever posed this rumour seems t not understand our needs.
Why would we even entertain swapping a class midfielder?
This rumour would have more credibility if it was Kosi instead of Dal.

I know who I think would benefit our midfield the most ...
How many times have you heard this year ...The game will be won in the forward line or the game will be won in defense ...
The midfield is the key to winning these days and I believe Kerr offers much more than Dal Santo ...
And if we could get Cousins in there too ...Well ...that would be a pretty decent midfield in anyones book ...

Serious? Oh...I wasn't aware of that. Anyway, I hope that it is just a rumour. The bloke who told it to me today said it was the latest info coming from an inside source out of one of the clubs.saintsRrising wrote:

I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Regarding speculation that the club might seek to trade Koschitzke for an early draft pick, Lyon said there was no chance.
"Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Nick Dal Santo, Leigh Montagna, Luke Ball, Jason Gram, Brendon Goddard, Sam Fisher, Sam Gilbert, they're the core. They're not going anywhere. And we have just got to keep adding to them. You don't trade that quality," he said.
I wouldn't have thought it could be any clearer

I...
Kerr vs Dal + Pick 12
and not
Kerr vs Dal
But I agree..Ker is a better player than Dal...and also of the two Kerr could influence our ability to win more.

Thats also interesting. Lyon doesn't seem the type for playing games. He's a pretty straight shooter.sackers5 wrote:http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/k ... 75809.html

My point is that we need more depth in the midfield. Why trade a class midfielder? Is Kerr better? He's certainly better at being an in-and-under player but I still like Dal Santo with the ball in his hands and a little bit of time.BelfastSaint wrote:Mmmm ...Lets see ... Kerr .. Dal Santo..? I'd rather a midfield of Hayes, Ball, Kerr, Dal Santo, Montagna, Goddard and Gram...There's still quite number of years left in that combination.
If you have Hayes, Ball, Kerr, Cousins, Montagna, Goddard and Gram then you will have Cousins out in a year or two and Hayes following after that.

Kerr vs Dal + Pick 12 is still a good deal IMO .. Kerr would give us immediate impact next season and a few more seasons after that ...saintsRrising wrote:Well that would actually be.....BelfastSaint wrote:

Re Trading Dal
NO NO NO NO NO NO & NEVER
Love to have Kerr BUT not at the expense of one of our most gifted players, who can turn a game for us.
Granted he has had an average year but Kerr has not exactly set the world on fire this year and NDS will come back better than ever next year. of that I am sure.
If the club is looking at this trade WHAT ARE THEY THINKING
Cheers

He didn't have Judd and Cousins around him this year, so he was due to get more attention from having a tag this year.ohwhenthesaints! wrote:I also noticed Kerr becoming increasingly frustrated with having a tag...where as Dal is probably more long suffering?
Sometimes this "not being able to break a tag" argument drives me nuts.
Outstanding on-ballers are able to cope with taggers - Robert Harvey, Chris Judd, Shane Crawford, Gary Ablett to name just a few.
These blokes that can't handle a tag haven't heard of the phrase "gut running". imo if you consistently run harder during a game then surely you can beat your tagger.
