Riewoldt not even in top 10 for MVP award!
I really disagreed with what happened that night
how can and i know Richo had a great year but him be voted
higher than Reiwoldt, are they blind, do they not watch what this guy has done for the club, He is the most valuable player in my opinion
because if we dont have him- where stuffed and as for Ablett they can replace him so not so valuable
?

That's a good point actually.jakestar1 wrote: also reiwoldt had 24 assists this year equal second

But still only gets Roo up to 75 odd goals for the year against Franklin's 115.
I don't want to compare the two, I'm only using the comparison as it was brought up by someone else.
Fact is, Roo costs us alot with his woeful goal kicking. Until he sorts this out (if infact he can sort it out) he won't get the respect that he could.
And we won't be as good as we could be.

And the point was made that Franklin has cost the Hawks some games because he is a dreadful kick at goal. He kicked 100 goals because he plays at FF and is on the end of a high achieving midfield group. He is a super talent - but a poor kick at goal. So, by your logic - he must be overrated!! Riewoldt plays at CHF - and spends very little time near our goals as opposed to Franklin - yet has 50 goals to his name and a high number of assists - yet is overrated??rodgerfox wrote:That's a good point actually.jakestar1 wrote: also reiwoldt had 24 assists this year equal second

If you read the OP, you'll find that he wasn't in the top 10 in the comp as rated by his peers.yipper wrote: He is a super talent - but a poor kick at goal. So, by your logic - he must be overrated!! So it's not my logic.
He isn't rated by the people he plays alongside.
So, by anyone's logic, if Saints fans have him in the top 10 in the comp, but the players don't - we overrate him.
That's pretty straight forward really.

Ok, off the top of the head - against the Doggies in Tassie?? Where he kicked 1.7 or something. Fact is - the Hawthorn match committee don't rate his kicking skills at all - would rather Williams or Roughie take a shot to win the game. You made the point that due to Riewoldt's kicking ability - he is overrated!! Well, Franklin is a worse kick - yet he is not overrated?? My view is that both Franklin and Riewoldt are genuine superstars - they are most definately not overrated. Kicking skills are irrelevent.rodgerfox wrote:Which games did he cost them?yipper wrote:And the point was made that Franklin has cost the Hawks some games because he is a dreadful kick at goal. Just maybe that rating was over the entire season - all 22 rounds?? Riewoldt has only been at his best since Round 12ish?? So, maybe - if he had played at that level over all 22 weeks - he would have been top 4 ish do you think.rodgerfox wrote:

So by that theory every key forward in the AFL must be overated as even the most accurate key forward is only in 10% more accurate that Roo ?rodgerfox wrote:Riewoldt can't kick.
We overrate him.
Until he even resembles a reliable kick for goal, then we're overrating him.
And with Bradshaw he has the HUGE advantage that he mainly stays very very close to goal with Brown roaming further out.
Obviously Jonathon Brown must be vastly overated player too

There are many overated players at the Saints, but Riewoldt is definately not one of them.
Agreed.

That obviously doesn't include complete shanks that miss everything. He has at least one of them every week.
Seriously, Roo is a star. Noone can doubt that.
But he, in my eyes, can be as much of a match loser as a match winner.
Until the first is addressed, he is overrated by many. In particular Saints fans.
Very much the same as Richo. He's a star. A champion even. But he's never been held in the same regard as other champion forwards because his kicking let's the team down.
Anyone who denies Roo's kicking is poor and a serious problem is in denial.
