Who would you prefer? Ashley Sampi? Not everyone gets it right all the time.

X is recovering from a hammy. He'll be better for the run. I think the general concensus on here is that a premiership team isn't based on your best 6 players but moreso the last 6 picked.

X just need a little luck with injury so he can get back to his best.

Besides, Bartel wasn't anything to write home about when he first started. If X hadn't spent half his career out with injury, who knows what he could have become by now. Comparing draft picks like this is grasping at straws.

Well, what I mean is...Pav might have broken his leg first season, smashed his ankle the next and...whammo...you've got Fergus Watts! In which case, you'd be happier with Fiora...just.

Yeah, I was pretty happy to have X ahead of Bartel at the time.

Bartel was lauded as the Greg Williams type but his lack of pace was seen as a big issue. Equally, after a good opening year or so, he faded rapidly - only to resurface in 2006 or so.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

You do know that John Beveridge flew Pavlich the year before in front of the St Kilda coach at the time to get him recruited.... the then coach said no to a "chubby legged" Pav... saying he wanted a mature body.

Niesham knocked back McLeod at Freo for a similar reason...everyone makes mistakes, and I'd have to say that John Beveridge has more strikes for him than against.

It would be fair to say that X didn't start at all well yesterday

But was it not a good time to get a guy who is not only in our best 22 but probably our best 15 into the side considering we live to fight another day.

His body held up

He got used to finals footy (Big jump from VFL)

And he improved as the game went on

Good move Ross. I would have played him last week but they were obviously being careful with his body

think your being a bit tough on eddy. laid 8 tackles and, when put on the ground, seemed to be trying his guts out.

i do however agree with both charlie gardiner and x clarke- they are not up to it. armitage and ball would be much better ins for these two.[/b]

exactly the point, we rely on riewoldt too much to lift us, expect at least a couple of goals from each if they're playing as forwards

Why do we blame the same blokes week in week out, Charlie and Kosi are crucified by dumb decisions made by players further up the field. WHY kick it to Roo 90% of the time, these two blokes are not getting any quality ball delivery. I watched these two make lead after lead and the ball carriers don't even give them a second glance.

RL should start Roo on the wing and leave him there for the whole quarter if not for the whole game, like Richmond use Richo, just to make them get their heads up and use the other forwards.

Eddy's getting just as much ball as anyone who would come into the team, Armitage or Birss, but the thing that Eddy offers is forward pressure, great tackling and pace.

X will be greatly improved by the run, will be in our best half dozen come Saturday night.

Steven would my smokey for a game this week !!!

Only out would be Mini

i agree that steven must be very close to a game. also agree - roo on wing. park kosi at FF. and gwilt at CHF.

i have heard the "x will better for the run" thing said at least a thousand times. when are people going to face the truth that he is no good and will never be any good.

If we were to recruit Boyle what message would that send to Jarryd Allen? Allen's VFL form has been better than Boyle's !!

Agree Rooy on the wing as his last 8 weeks have been very poor at FF and CHF where as Kosi is killing them when he gets a chance in the forward line. Also Gwilt could be the next Loewe if given a chance at CHF as he is such a strong mark.

How very true plugger.

Why play Rooey up forward when you have the massively fit and youthful G-Train in the wings?

As for X, well he's only played about 100 games and they've all been dreadful. His "injury" was just an excuse. His dad being sick is a "lie".

God help some people on this forum.......

Who'd be a KPP in our forward line? There'd be a hundred threads on here each week asking for Roo to be moved back, Gardiner to be axed for his Schnieder-esque arm waving when everyone ignores his leads again (like Sunday), and Gwilt to be shot in public for leading straight into Roo...the only place anyone kicks too (which, in this case, would now be the wing)! Of course, BJ would be FF, where he's never played before. Seesh...G-Train's looking better for '09 already!

BJ at full forward is not as dumb as it sounds.
