Hmmm...I could see this coming. He got pantsed the last time he played against the Pies. Mind you, he was also a scapegoat for some shocking forward delivery.Gehrigs_son wrote:needs to be done

Yes, a specialist forward please. It's true, poor old Fraze is toast, unless that lump on his hand is an extra hand grafted on during recent surgery, forget about it. The fact that Gwilt got leave to push forward Sunday, seems to suggest he wasn't much chop down back (too slow for the Cats). Although he had a reasonable game against the Pies last time, maybe he should go this week? Eddy applies good pressure...we need that.bigcarl wrote:can't see fraser getting a run unfortunately.
i'd bring in allen, though, for gwilt or eddy.

the other option would be to play bj at ff and roo at chf.degruch wrote:Yes, a specialist forward please.bigcarl wrote:can't see fraser getting a run unfortunately.

problem is that bj can be so good around the ground and you'd possibly be robbing peter to pay paul.

The problem with putting BJ at FF is that we need him setting up the play and delievering the ball into the forward line. Our skill level was deplorable yesterday and it won't improve if we take BJ out of the action.bigcarl wrote: the other option would be to play bj at ff and roo at chf.

It's a huge problem with BJ...he's a 30 possession utility, I don't think we can afford to have him sitting up front when he's been one of the primary ball movers up to the forward line. Having Dempster go down with a knee was not good (especially for him), as it shifts the balance of the team and reduces our options.bigcarl wrote:the other option would be to play bj at ff and roo at chf.degruch wrote:Yes, a specialist forward please.bigcarl wrote:can't see fraser getting a run unfortunately.

I cant see us seriously being dangerous without a forward line structure.
Our gamestyle is ridiculously defensive as it is. When we go forward, we look hesistant nor look like winning at all. Too reactive.
Simply relying on Roo as our main and only target is ridiculous.
I know Schnider/Milne/Charlie can help kick a few here or there, but their not going to take the big marks. These guys crumb/kick the goals that the big targets dont mark/drop. If there's no target to kick to, there's no cruming. I think this is part of the reason why delivery into the forward line is horrible.
A. Opposition know where we are going to kick to.
B. Player's reliase its a 2on1 and get confused.
I think we've tried Kozi enough at Full Forward. He simply cannot do it. For this reason, I seriously think we need G-train there. I wonder what Roo thinks when he marks it outside the 50m arch looking for a target? Who is the target exactly?

agree with all that you've said. i just can't see ross going back on his decision on fraser. it's final. done and dusted.
perhaps allen comes in, though it is a lot to ask of a kid playing his fourth? game.
or (at the risk of robbing peter to pay paul) use bj at ff. would give us something aside from roo to kick to, but at the same time might leave us short of class around the ground.
we cant jsut say
"oh eddy applies good pressure, lets keep him even tho his handful of touches are clangers"
jones at leasts gets a lot more ball.
we need the WHOLE team unit, to apply pressure,
and bring in players who can with the ball and dispose of it right.
geary armo and birss, espically birss,
dont know why x and eddy and prefered to them

But we dropped Geary and Armo because they applied no pressure and their handful of possesions were clangers...at least Eddy's hungry for it. Yeah, he doesn't feature in the BOG, but I haven't seen him turn in a shocker. Guys like Jones (whom I put the same arguement for about 3 weeks back in a thread protesting we should drop him) and Eddy will keep going when guys like Gram and Dal drop off...we need them, as they have the ability to pick the team up.saintjake wrote:we cant jsut say

X is a proven player...the run against the Cats will help him get back into form. Totally agree with you re: Birss. Given his mid-season game against the Pies where he shut down Heath Shaw, he should be getting a run this week.

Interesting to hear Malthouse reckons Gehrig can still be selected. Maybe no-one has told him about the so-called retirement of the G-Train. Makes me really wonder if people know half of what they claim on here
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
