Saintsational radio?

Have you ever found yourself longing for a St Kilda radio show? Do you miss the days of Saints Radio? Ever thaught about being a co host or contributing in some way to a radio show dedicated to this great club of ours?

I hate to sound like one of those bulls*** ads that get you to sign up for meaningless crap that nobody wants for a massive fee and no reward but I have been thinking for a long time about hosting a radio show dedicated to the Saints and I belive I have found a way I could live out this dream of mine with only minimal (if any) fuss.

There is an website out there called Ubroadcast.com (http://www.ubroadcast.com/broadcast.php) which lets you host a radio show on the internet for free, I have checked into it and it seems pretty do-able, all you need it to download the software and away you go.

The reason I post this here is to check with you guys (the experts) if there would be anyone wanting to help out, co host or even just simply listen to a Saints mad guy like myself rant about footy for an hour a week.

I would obviously be a touch too late this season for the show to be worthwhile but I would be looking to begin broadcasting about the time the boys come togther for pre season training next year.

Suggestions and comments are most valuable and appreciated

I'd love to be involved in some sort of saints supporter podcast.

Thurs or Fri night teams + Match preview (depending on sunday games).
Post match review.
Interviews with whoever we can get our hands on.

now thats a good idea....u can catch it live or download the podcast later and listen to it wherever u like.
id def tune in

and think its a great idea

Thanks for the feedback guys sounds like it would be a go.

Im thinking of doing a couple of rough trial runs based on a simple format within the next week or so

The format would be something along the lines of

Opening discussion/small talk about life ect

Match review and preview for the next game

News/view from around the club (if any) general discussion about the club and any recent developments

Saint of the week and legend of the week

mabey even a wanker/tool of the week segment

After that I might even take some calls or awnser email questions or put up an interview with a player or even mabey a Saintsational poster. The software come with a chatroom feature so we could do some questions from that if there are any

Finally I would wrap up the show.

Any improvments or suggestions?

Thinking of names for the show I have yet to come up with anything decent (im not sure I coule use Saints/Saintsational Radio) any ideas would also be appreciated

A rotating co-host idea would be good.

Anyone with radio experience could host the thing, or we could have a crack at doing it on our own.

Nutting out a running sheet would be the key, just to make sure we have something to talk about, and don't go overtime/undertime.

couple of ideas for you

get one of the mods to link it via saintsational

get those going to training to grab interviews with the players,

Will it stream or podcast, podcast would be better for those of us busy but still wanting to listen.

great idea, and those interstate have access to the players easily on game day at after match gatherings.
easy to grab an interview and forward it on to the radio hosts for editing etc.

There will be a stream but the web site (ubroadcast.com) has a pod cast where it can be listen to or downloaded. I will also be looking at a web site with a message board and pod cast features in the future.

Ill just have to see how things pan out.

means well be able to hear things from true supporters of the team.
and wont have to listen to other people ranting on about their clubs.

I have downloaded the software and am going to debut Saints Talk Radio on Saturday night at 7 pm. It should only be a 1/2 hour or so "dry run" so I can work the kinks out and see what works and what doesnt.

To listen to the show you will need to head over to ubroadcast.com and download the player. Just look for the show in the dropdown box on teh player under "new indepindant broadcasters - Saints Talk Radio"

I have thought about the podcast idea also - definitely needed! I don;t think you need to worry about it being the end of the season too much. Trade period is just about the busy time on here.

My suggestion is to hand pick the posters who really know their stuff and stimulate the most feedback to be part of the podcast. Marto, St Mart, Big Mart or whatever he is currently called would be one.
